Lauren is a Grand Rapids native creating a space that feels like home—where every ✨weirdo✨ is more than welcome. She specializes in skin-focused hair removal, from Brazilians to brows and lash lifts, with each service fully customized to fit your needs and leave you feeling confident.

Outside the studio, she’s a total horror fanatic, lives for live music, and is counting down the days to becoming a 2027 bride. A true Virgo at heart, Lauren brings both precision and personality to everything she does—and it shows in every client experience 💖

We’re so excited to highlight the powerhouse behind Truth and Triumph here at IMAGE Studios Grand Rapids!

Kara has been doing hair since 2012. Her journey started in cosmetology, but within a year found her way into barbering—and that’s where she’s stayed.

Kara can do a solid fade all day, but also really likes working with longer, more natural styles. Movement, texture, hair that actually feels like your hair—curly, coarse, fine, whatever. Her work sits somewhere in the middle: clean and precise, but still lived-in. She also has a soft spot for beards—There’s a special nuance to a great beard, and nothing’s more impressive than one that’s well groomed. Kara has more or less given herself the title✨ “Beard Queen of Grand Rapids”… ✨still waiting for that one to catch on. Kara opened her suite because she couldn’t find a place in Grand Rapids that really lined up with how she likes to work. A lot of shops are all about speed, some lean super traditional, and others feel like you’re just there to get sold something. None of that ever felt right to her.

She wanted something more intentional. Kara runs her space with honesty, purpose, and a real attention to detail, keeping things relaxed but never careless. To Kara, barbering should feel human again—an actual conversation, a moment to slow down, and a service that’s built around the person in the chair, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

When you’re in Kara’s chair, you get her full attention. There’s time for an actual conversation—not just “what are we doing?” and clippers switch on five seconds later. She cares about how you look, but cares even more about how you feel when you walk out. At the end of the day, Kara is a barber—and a damn good one. Not a haircut factory. Not a salesperson. Just someone who takes their work seriously and genuinely cares about the people in her chair. If you gel with that—you will get along just fine!
