Construction industry nears tipping point With a pipeline full of projects and a workforce still recovering from the Great Recession, the Michigan construction industry might be nearing a bottleneck.
**ATTENTION IMPUT NEEDED**
Since 2005, the West Leonard mural has greeted visitors and residents to the Leonard Street corridor. The mural has represented our neighborhood’s joint effort with businesses, residents & City organizations to work together to create a streetscape for all to enjoy.
As the face of a new Leonard Street becomes a reality this spring with a refreshed entrance/underpass, sidewalk, street, and trees, we also have this opportunity to create a new mural. A mural fresh and vibrant, colorful and artistic as the people that make up the Westside. It will carry on the tradition of one of the Westside’s colorful focal points inviting all people of the city and travelers on US-131 to come in closer and explore our unique neighborhood in Grand Rapids.
As we begin planning, we welcome the support and valuable advice of the West Leonard Business Association, West Grand Neighborhood Organization, Westside Corridor Improvement District Authority, Westside Collaborative, Old Growth Creative Mural artist Nick Nortier and Enhance Painter Brian Lindhout.
We are reaching out to residents and businesses again for your artistic ideas and vision for our neighborhood’s growth. We are reaching out for support and encouragement in our effort to beautify the Westside. We are reaching out for your interest in underwriting the mural’s cost and investing in our thriving community.
