It’s a dream come true to get back out there and I’m grateful to have the opportunity. That being said, in order to protect my peace and enjoy this vacation, I will not be responding to any messages, texts or emails during that time. I will respond to all when I arrive back home.

This past Friday, Busy B’s hosted Women in Bloom 🌸
A collaborative spring open house bringing neighboring beauty businesses together for a spectacular evening full of laughter, snacks, goodies, connection, and joy.

As a solo business owner, every task that needed to be done ultimately fell on me. Without a business partner or employees, there were definitely moments where everything felt overwhelming. But looking back now, it was all so worth it.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to support not only myself, but the other blooming women within my business building. Your presence, encouragement, and support meant more than you know 🤍

A suuuuper special shout out to my former Waxology girls, the bonds we’ve made, the support we give one another in business is UNMATCHED! Yall are amazing and I’m so glad to have you as my FRIENDS! Secondly a super special shout out to my cousin and aunt who drove 2 hours just to come support me in this adventure! Gas is high, and that drive alone was an investment. I appreciate you showing up for me! 💕

I especially want to thank my Hunny for talking me off the ledge more than a few times and helping keep me grounded whenever I felt myself uprooting. And a huge thank you to Vanessa, Candy, and Anne for believing in my idea, pouring into the vision, and showing up so beautifully for both this event and your own businesses as well. Watching it all come together was truly special.

Most importantly, I thank God for placing me outside of my comfort zone, stretching me beyond the limits I created for myself, and allowing me to find joy through it all.

While I would’ve loved to see even more familiar faces in attendance, I am beyond grateful for everyone who showed up and made the night what it was. This event was SO much fun and I’m already dreaming up the next one 🍂

I think it’s time to reintroduce myself

Hey! 👋🏾 I’m Takiya
(pronounced like sky without the s)

I’m the owner of Busy B’s Wax Studio located on the border of Grand Rapids and Kentwood. I’ve officially been in business for over one year and I am loving it. Waxing is my passion and a skill I’ve practiced with intention for years. I have over four years of professional experience and more than twelve years of self waxing experience.

Creating a calm space where people feel confident, seen, and taken care of is truly the heart of my work.

A few fun facts about me

🐕‍🦺 I am a dog mama to an eight year old Pomeranian chihuahua named Milo
☕️ I love a good caramel latte (with oat milk every time)
📚 I enjoy reading and even have a free community library inside my studio
🍲 I am a foodie, I’m ALWAYS down for some chat and some grub
🛍️ I spend a lot of time out and about buying things I probably don’t need
💬 I can be terrible at responding to personal messages (but I always crave conversation)

The holiday season is here, and while many of us are planning meals and gatherings, some of our neighbors are wondering if they’ll have enough to eat. With SNAP benefits paused, families, elders, and individuals right here in our community are feeling the impact.

Busy B’s is partnering with Feeding America to help make a difference; both in person and virtually. From now through December 1, you can bring non-perishable, shelf-stable food items to the studio or give online through our virtual food drive.
