A soothing “wellness” massage for the mind and body, swedish massage promotes stress release and full body relaxation. Deep Tissue:
Using specialized techniques to reach the deeper layers of the muscle, deep tissue massage addresses target problem areas, aches and pains, spasms and muscle tightness. This healing massage promotes increased muscle function and range of motion as well as pain relief. Mobile Chair Massage
(may include mileage if beyond 10 mile radius of Grand Rapids. A minimum of five 20 minute scheduled massages is required)

Infrared Sauna Sessions
The Far-infrared (FIR) sauna is the longest wavelength. It can reach deepest into the body where toxins are stored. FIR stimulates the sweat glands, resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat. Infrared sauna therapy comes with many benefits as listed below. While traditional saunas rely on humidity to heat up the room around you, infrared saunas heat your body directly by emitting wavelengths of light that you immediately absorb. Localized heat sent right to the source means tolerable temperatures and a quicker, deeper sweat.
-Detox
-Relaxation
-Pain Relief
-Weight Loss
-Improved Circulation
-plus much more
The infrared sauna here at the studio also includes chromotherapy (light therapy), which adds many other additional benefits to your session.

You may have heard us mention PEMF therapy at Healing Hands, but what exactly is it? And why are people using it?

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It uses carefully controlled, pulsed electromagnetic fields that are delivered to the body through a specialized applicator.

Unlike electrical stimulation, PEMF does not send an electrical current through your body. The goal is to expose the body to a pulsed electromagnetic field as a non-invasive wellness and therapeutic modality.

WHY IS PEMF USED?

PEMF has been studied for a variety of applications, including musculoskeletal conditions and osteoarthritis. Research has found potential benefits for things such as pain, stiffness, and physical function, although results have varied between studies and different PEMF devices and protocols. (PubMed Central (PMC))

More recent research continues to show that PEMF may be helpful for some people with osteoarthritis, while also emphasizing that the evidence is still developing and that treatment results can depend on factors such as frequency, intensity, and treatment duration. (PubMed Central (PMC))

WHO MIGHT BE A GOOD CANDIDATE?

PEMF may be worth exploring for adults who are looking for a non-invasive option as part of their overall wellness or pain-management approach, particularly those experiencing occasional aches, stiffness, or musculoskeletal discomfort.

It may also be something to discuss with your healthcare provider if you are managing a specific condition and want to know whether PEMF could appropriately fit into your care plan.

⚠️ A QUICK SAFETY NOTE

PEMF isn’t appropriate for everyone. If you have an implanted electronic medical device, are pregnant, or have a significant medical condition, please talk with your healthcare provider before trying PEMF. Your individual medical history matters, and PEMF should not be used as a substitute for diagnosis or treatment from your medical professional.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT HEALING HANDS

PEMF is non-invasive and requires no needles or medication. You can simply get comfortable, relax, and allow the session to take place.

If you’ve been curious about PEMF and wondering whether it might be a good fit for you, come talk to us at Healing Hands! We’re happy to explain how it works, answer your questions, and help you decide whether it makes sense as part of your wellness routine.

Muscle testing is a way of assessing how different muscles are functioning and responding before and during an adjustment. Dr. Karen Bates uses this information to look at things like muscle strength, coordination, balance, and how the body is responding to different movements.

Why does that matter?

Because sometimes the area that hurts isn’t actually the area that needs the most attention.

For example, you might come in with hip pain, but testing may show that another area is not functioning or supporting your movement the way it should. Looking at the body as a whole can give us more information than simply adjusting the spot that hurts.

At Healing Hands, muscle testing helps us create a more individualized adjustment rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

We assess. We test. We adjust. Then we reassess.

That extra step is part of what makes our approach unique. We want to understand what your body is doing—not just where you feel discomfort.

Your body is connected. Your care should be, too.
