Saturday I had a walk in client need color/cut & I had about an hr and 15 min before my next client would walk in, and I said Les go!! My brain went to work and discussed her options. Wanted to keep her warm toned because it worked great with her skin tone but just not so brassy. So option 1, I could do a smudged darker root & try to cover the band, tone the rest at the level she came in with but remove unwanted brass. Option 2, I do a smudge root and lowlight it as well to make it more natural looking and dimensional & and darker overall. She was game for option 2!! The band of color right below her natural root was not covered perfectly but way better. Noted that next time I can go 1-2 shades darker on that root. We did a quick trim to keep her ends healthy as she’s growing it out! I did go over the fact I was using toners for this and she would need a refresh in about 6-8 weeks to maintain the color and keep blending the band of old permanent color that had been applied previously at her roots that will unfortunately continue to show when it fades! This is the reality of it and this is why I think it’s important to be completely transparent about color with clients so you know what I am using and why. Now because she had just slightly below shoulder length hair and had low-medium density I was able to knock this out in this time frame! I had so much fun with Brenda and her mom on Saturday. Will share her mom’s transformation at some point!! Y’all know how I am with social media smh 😅. We wanted to lighten up Brenda’s highlights while still incorporating her natural color for that dimensional swirl🤤 This toner concoction is SO GOOD. I tried something new…. For you hairstylist nerds Lifted to clean lvl 9 and glossed with: 2oz 09vg + .5 oz 09m + .5 oz 08np Why is making hair content so hard for me… I dunno… I think after 4.5 hrs foiling someone, the last thing I wanna do (OR have time for because my next client is sitting waiting for me) is a 15 min photo shoot 🫠 ANYHOO, this color slays.
