The Cutting Edge Salon

Today I returned my keys to the salon to my landlord. I hope to see you all in the new salon I’ll working out of. I started today with just a few clients at The Cedar Ridge Salon

As you all know, I opened my hair salon Aug 1995 with my older sister Lorraine. A short time later, our other sister came to work with us, and was able to quit early to stay home with her family. A few years later, Lorraine moved on to other endeavors. So, for about 20 years, it’s been just me working it. Four years ago, my new landlord wanted my larger space, so she offered me a much smaller suite in the same building. I begrudgingly took it and I had to totally renvovate it to make it a salon. I was happy with the results, but it just wasn’t the same. I’ve been in my salon for over 29 years, and I always thought I’d be there until at least 30. Unfortunately, yesterday, I told them I wasn’t going to be renewing my lease and gave them my 30 day notice. I’ll be closing my salon forever the end of Dec. My last day working on clients will be Dec. 24. I am not retiring though! I am going to be renting a station at The Cedar Ridge Salon starting Jan 1. I’ll still have my same salon number, and I will be keeping my prices about the same, I may have to go up my usual small amount. Booking with me will not change, the only thing changing is my location, which is just 3 miles from where the salon is now. I’m both excited and extremely nervous about this next chapter. I’m hoping all my clients continue to come and support me in my business so I can afford to do what I love to do for a while longer!

I’ve recently had to cut my work days at the salon to Tuesday and Saturdays only. I’m still by appointment, and I can start as early as 9:30am. I know this will be an adjustment for some, but I’m really hoping you all can book early so this limited availability won’t be too difficult for all of us. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Stepped a little out of my comfort zone today. I helped my wonderful friend transition to her natural hair color. After 30 years of coloring it herself, COVID had helped her decide to grow it out. I was pretty proud how it turned out and she loves it!
