RIP Shawn, till we see each other again.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of one of our own.

Deputy Shawn Green, a 25-year veteran of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, was tragically killed in an off-duty car crash last night in Okeechobee County.

Deputy Green dedicated his life to serving and protecting others. Over the span of his service, he worked in several capacities within the agency, including Road Patrol, Courthouse Security, Court Baliff, and the Corrections Department. He was also a proud and devoted senior member of the Martin County Sheriff’s Honor Guard.

Shawn is part of a proud law enforcement family. His father is a retired MCSO detective. Two of his sisters and his brother-in-law currently serve within the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and his brother is also a law-enforcement officer at a neighboring agency. 

He leaves behind a young daughter, loving siblings, devoted parents, and a large, loving extended family—both by blood and by badge—who cherished him deeply. He was a loyal friend and a respected colleague.
