Thought I’d share a few before and afters from recently! I’m in my 9th year of doing permanent makeup eyebrows.

I turn at least 1 person away every week for a ton of different reasons. There are a lot of misconceptions about getting your eyebrows tattooed. The two I hear the most are:

1. “I don’t want them tattooed, I just want them microbladed.”

2. “I am so excited to never fill in my eyebrows again!”

Many of you ask me about bringing your eyebrows in closer in the front.

The thought tends to be it will look like “hair.” In theory that sounds great, but the reality is that there will always be a contrast between your real hair and the tattoo I’m doing. It does not matter if I am doing the look of hairstrokes (microblading), or a full shaded eyebrow - there will still be a contrast between your real hair and my work. This is because your real hair is on top of your skin and a tattoo is layers into the skin.

I took this picture to show an example of this. You can see where this client’s real hair stops and my work begins.

We had a very thorough conversation about this.

She understood exactly what I was explaining.

She chose to have me do it anyway.

My job is not to give you whatever you want - because sometimes clients don’t realize that what they want may not always look like what they think it will.

My job is to be honest and make sure you understand what you are asking for.

The reason this example is important is because overtime the spot where she has no real hair will be lighter than where she has her own hair, resulting in the need for her to fill them in by that front section.

She was totally ok with it, so we proceeded.

No secrets.
No misunderstandings.
Just open and honest discussion between my client and I for realistic results.

Kali has been coming to me for almost 5 years. She came in this week for a color boost and shared with me that she has never filled her eyebrows in since the first time I did them.

I have many clients who are in the mindset that because they pencil or powder in their eyebrows once they start to fade that they need to get them tattooed again, but that is not always true.

If you don’t feel the need to fill them in at all, then you are still good to go!

Kali wears minimal makeup and likes to look more natural - her eyebrows need to match that vibe. If her eyebrows get over saturated, she honestly wouldn’t look like herself.
