Ok! So I am far from being the ‘crunchi, hippie mom/wife’ I want to be, BUT I have learned small changes can make a huge difference and truly make me feel better about what I’m doing to keep chemicals away from my family and also cut my waste to help the planet and wildlife which also is very important to me!(phew, run on sentence? Probably) anyways, here are a few things I try to do that are small changes with big impacts.

Reusable bags at the store(super cute ones on Amazon for next to nothing)

Reusable ziplock bag(also can be found on amazon and it is seriously amazing never running out of ziplocks)

Use the ‘Think Dirty’ ap to try and track what products are the best for my family with less harmful chemicals. Some of our favorite brands are Acure, TruSkin, Burt’s Bees, Honest, Shea Moisture, Dr. Squatch. Just to name a few good ones that aren’t too pricey

Aluminum free deodorant-even if you can’t go full on natural deodorant (I get it and the detox period suckssss) not having aluminum in your deodorant lowers your chances of getting breast cancer immensely

Only use over the counter medication when it is really needed-less chemicals in your body and makes the medication that much more effective when you do really need it

Use a more natural laundry detergent to help with skin irritations. I lovvveee me some branch basics but when I need to pinch pennies and I can’t wait for a shipment I use All Free and Clear(Caden has SUPER sensitive skin and this is great for him)

Reusable straws-SAVE THE SEA TURTLES!!! We like metal but they have so many options. Caden loves doing this and feeling like every plastic straw not used is a turtle he saves. I keep them in the car, house and in my purse.

Now, I’ll just say it, I fall off the bandwagon sometimes and I have some unhealthy habits that some people think just override the better choice we try to make. The way I look at it is that every health choice or eco-friendly choice is one step in the right direction and can’t hurt, just help! I mean most diets even have ‘cheat days’ right? Same concept. Also I hear a lot that these changes don’t make a difference or that my one straw not used is nothing compared to the billions used a day, BUT if we all make small changes then I see it as progress, and progress is progress!
