As the temperatures continue to drop, here are some tips to help ensure you maintain that healthy glow all throughout the winter!
💫The Wind and cold air cause water to evaporate from the skin’s surface which can lead to micro cracks causing TEWL. That’s why avoiding harsh exfoliants and active ingredients is important to keeping the skin’s barrier healthy. Instead opt for more gentle actives and scale back your use to a few days a week.
💫 When searching for moisturizers and other products, look for things that include humectant, emollient, occlusive ingredients. Humectants bind water into the outer layers of the skin, emollients help the skin barrier function to improve skin’s texture and appearance, and occlusive’ create a layer to block Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL).
💫 Sleeping with a humidifier in your room during the winter is a great way to combat the dry air produced from the heat in your home. By increasing the humidity of the air you will lose less moisture from your skin.
