You should be exfoliating two to three times per week — as long as your skin can handle it.
Chemical exfoliants tend to be fine to use more regularly. Physical methods, on the other hand, may be too abrasive to use multiple times a week.

An electrolyte imbalance is one of the most common culprits of dry skin. The skin cannot absorb or retain moisture without the proper balance of electrolytes such as Potassium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, phosphorous, bicarbonate, and sodium Pyrophosphate.

Treat your skin from the inside out ✨
Your skin REFLECTS your diet and internal health..
Whilst many are more conscious on the effect their next meal may have on their waistline, the health of skin is also to be considered.
Collagen, elastin, and protein are three essential things that your skin needs to stay smooth, supple, and wrinkle-free. Oily and deep-fried foods don’t not necessarily have enough proteins to supply to your skin, which can over time lead to fine lines and wrinkles in the skin.
As skincare products and treatment improve the health of skin topically, many skin conditions can me occurring from internal health.

When you over cleanse you skin you are constantly stripping out its natural oils. When you strip out the good oil in your skin it will start to compensate and produce EXTRA oil! Then creating congestion and acne breakouts to occur. 🧼
You should only be washing your face AM and PM. 🫧
If you feel that your skin is on the oily side. Speak with a licensed Aesthetician to recommend a skin care routine to help minimize the oil production. DO NOT skip moisturizer! Going back to over stripping the skin, when you wash your face and don’t put back the need hydration, your skin will start to make up for it by producing more than normal oil.

Do you experience acne when you are stressed out? Here is why:
When you feel stressed, your sympathetic nervous system releases stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline into your body. Cortisol causes oil production in your skin glands, which can lead to clogged pores and acne break outs.

Retinoids is an umbrella term for all vitamin A derivatives that bind to retinoic acid receptors. The Vitamin A-Retinoic acid conversion process varies depending on the derivative.
Retinoids are broken down into 4 main categories which are Retinyl esters, retinol, retinaldehyde & retinoic acid. The first 3 are available OTC as skincare products, while retinoic acid is usually only available in prescription form. They all work by binding to & activating retinoic acid receptors in the skin which then alter the skins DNA makeup - thus changing its appearance & texture. This also leads to varying benefits such as improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation & acne.
No matter what type of retinoid you apply topically, our skin can only utilize its most bioavailable form, which is retinoic acid. Retinyl esters, retinol & retinaldehyde all need to first convert to retinoic acid in the skin in order for our skin to reap the most benefits. The more steps it takes to convert the weaker it will be. For example:
Retinyl esters- 3 conversions
Retinol- 2 conversions
Retinaldehyde- 1 conversion
There’s so much more information on how vitamin A works that I can’t even fit into this post. Save this for when you need it or reach out for any questions regarding a Vitamin A that will be good for you ! 🌿
