Starting this morning, SLO County has enacted a mask mandate, requiring wearing a mask in all indoor public spaces. So once again I will be asking all clients to wear a face covering when in the salon. Face covering being either a mask or a face shield, covering both mouth and nose. I will continue to not wear a mask as I have a medical exemption, and have a doctors note. And I respect anyone that also has a medical or mental health exemption. Please feel free to ask me any questions, or share any concerns.

I also ask again for you to text or call me that you have arrived at the salon for each visit, and I will respond and let you know when I am ready for you to come in.

I continue to work hard to keep the salon environment as safe as possible. So far it has worked as there has been no transmission of the virus at the salon so far and I want to keep it that way.

Thankyou for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

They announced last night that we are entering lockdown. All non essential businesses, including my nail salon must be closed by Sunday. It will be a three week lockdown. I really hope that it is just three weeks, and that I will be able to resume scheduled appointments on Tue Dec 29 if all goes as planned, but I suggest being prepared for it to go longer, as I doubt they will lift the lockdown if our region's available icu capacity remains too low at the end of three weeks. I will contact you when I am sure I can reopen. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hang in there and stay healthy!

As the county entered the purple tier again of restrictions, as our county's case numbers are on the rise, one breath of relief for me is that I do not have to close my doors this time. State guidelines concerning manicurists had changed back in September, allowing indoor operations to continue even in the most restrictive tier: purple. I confirmed with the county yesterday to double check that they are not being more restrictive than the state.

I continue to work hard to provide a safe and clean space to come for nails and toes. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.

Good news, I am open once again, and started working on Wednesday! It feels so good to be back to work, and so good to see my clients again!

Slo county entered the "red tier" last tuesday, allowing manicuring services to open indoors again. The same day the state changed the guidelines regarding nail services, allowing them to be open even in the most restrictive tier. (Unless the county decides to be more restrictive, which SLO has not shown any signs of so far)

I have been working hard to piece together my schedule and get everyone on the calendar. Feel free to reach out for an appointment, or if you have any questions.

Hi there!

The state has come out with it's new color coded guidelines for what can and can't be open and under what circumstances.

Good news is Hair Stylists and Barbers can now re-open indoors starting monday.

However, since the county of San Luis Obispo is the color "purple" nail services are still only allowed outdoors only. I stand by my decision that I cannot ensure sanitation, safety or quality of work outdoors, so that means I'm still closed. Under current guidelines, when San Luis Obispo county becomes "red" meaning 4-7 daily new cases per 100,000 population, a positivity rate between 5 - 8%, and if the county allows, I will be able to reopen. No idea when that may happen. It will take the county 2 weeks of meeting that criteria for the next "tier" before I will be able to reopen.

As much as I disagree with the guidelines as it pertains to my business, I am still closed. To go against these guidelines risks fines, citations, and loss of liscence. If you are also in disagreement, I encourage you to reach out to your county and state officials. CA is the only state restricting personal care services like this. I question why hair stylists can work safely indoors yet manicurists cannot. We are both trained and liscenced professionals, with hundreds of hours experience in sanitation and client protection. What proof do they have that we are the risk they seem to think we are?

Hang in there, and stay healthy!

Good morning. I have come to the decision that I will not be reopening my salon until services can be conducted indoors. This has been a very difficult decision to make. I have studied the guidelines, talked with my landlord, the county, the city, and have listened to the responses of my clientele. It has been very heartwarming the trust my clients have in me. And it is trust that is the main factor behind this decision to stay closed. I cannot ensure a safe and sanitary environment outdoors. I also cannot ensure the quality of my work outdoors. I do not feel comfortable at all in many ways doing my work outdoors, and I do not see how I can provide a comfortable environment to you the client if my gut is telling me this is a bad idea. And I dont feel comfortable either outside my place of business or outside a client's home, because of the same safety, sanitation and quality concerns. Believe me, I want to be back to work and see you so much! But I want to do it the right way, in a way I can trust the service I can provide. I will continue to keep myself informed as to when I can resume services indoors, and hope to see you inside the salon soon! Feel free to ask me any questions.

Manicure and Pedicure Services Outdoors

Good evening. Today the state and the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology released guidelines on performing nail services outdoors. Currently in SLO county nail services cannot be performed indoors, and prior to today doing them outdoors went against our liscencing rules. This ability to work outside is brand new for my industry. I am currently reviewing the guidelines in detail as well as working on exploring options and possible preparations of working outdoors, but in all honesty I have my concerns and hesitations about working outside. I am doing my best to try to make as informed a decision as possible in this current situation. I made a survey to get feedback from you to help give me more information on this decision. I thankyou in advance for taking the time to fill out the survey.

Breaking news is salons in the county have to shut down, starting tomorrow. So unfortunately I have to close again. I will be keeping a close eye on when I will be allowed to reopen and will let you know when i am open again. Due to the uncertainty of the entire situation, there's no estimate on when I can reopen. It could be a couple weeks, it could be months again. I will not be doing nails at home, in people's houses, or outside, because even if I personally have my disagreements with this, the truth of the matter is that the state board is enforcing people that do not comply with the closure with taking their liscence away. (As well as fines and arrests) I want to be able to continue to do nails, and am not willing to risk that. I will also be keeping my eye out if there are any additional guidelines to reopening so I can provide as safe an environment as possible. Reopening will look alot like it did this past time, some people will win the lottery and have appointments already scheduled for when I can reopen, and I will be working as best as I can to fit everyone in as soon as I can. Scheduling adjustments may need to be made until things settle down. Hang in there and stay healthy. I hope to see you again as soon as I can.

Plexiglass for your protection!

Good news! I will be able to open starting Friday June 19! I cannot wait to see you back in the salon. Things will be different in the salon to try to provide the safest environment for everyone during this pandemic. Communication will be very essential too.

I will be focusing first on doing my best to honor those that are already on the schedule for after I am able to open. Scheduling adjustments may need to be made to give time for more work at first as well as cleaning practices between customers, and I will only be handling one week at a time scheduling until I am able to fine tune timing. I thankyou in advance for your patience and cooperation. I will be doing my best to try to get as many clients scheduled in any available space. Due to my health I will not be able to work any extra days or hours.

Here is a list of the most notable changes that I need your participation in: Face masks will be required. washing your hands before starting a service will also be required. No outside food and beverages will be allowed in the salon, and I encourage leaving all personal items in your car. No cell phone use during the appointment. I will be asking if you have any symptoms prior to starting your service, and prefer that you notify me before coming to the salon to reschedule if you are feeling ill at all. I ask you to wait in your car if I am still with another client, and I will call or text you when I am ready. There will be a waiver to sign at your first appointment. My prices will be increasing a flat $5 per service to cover the cost of PPE and disinfecting products. Keep in mind that a new gel set of nails will cost more than a regular fill too.

Feel free to ask me any questions. I thankyou again for your patience, understanding and cooperation, and look forward to seeing you soon!

Good afternoon.

As you may have heard, hair stylists and barbers are now allowed to start opening. As this is great news, unfortunately this does not apply to manicurists (or massage therapists or facials). As of right now, manicuring services are not allowed to open yet, and there is no estimated date on when that could change. But hopefully with hair salons now open, nails will be soon.

I have been keeping myself as informed as possible on drafts of regulations regarding reopening my salon, from the state, the county, and the state board of cosmetology, and am stocking up and making changes in preparation. Including, but not limited to: a deep cleaning of all surfaces of the salon with EPA approved cleaners, re- sanitizing all implements, and re-laundering all linens, installing ventilation fans in the window to circulate air better, installing plexiglass shields both at the table and pedicure chair, requiring masks be worn of everyone. Implementing having both the client and I wash hands before starting any service, no touching of cell phones or other personal items during services, and allowing time for me to clean surfaces between clients. So far I still plan to continue to accept all forms of payments, although exact change from cash will be appreciated as I will not be allowed to handle cash to make change. Thank goodness my phone is water resistant as it will be wiped down with alcohol after each use for credit card transactions. Also there will be a waiver to sign. Due to the nature of my business, the close face to face contact with everyone is most likely why they are requiring such regulations as well as not allowing manicurists to open just yet. Bright side is at my particular salon, it will be very easy to keep other social distancing to just me and my client, with just changes like having you the client stay in your car until the prior client leaves, and no other persons but myself and the current client allowed in the salon.

I will be letting you know the moment I am allowed and able to open, as well as more detailed specifics of changes. Feel free to ask me any questions. I thankyou for your patience and understanding. I miss seeing you and hope to see you soon!
