Need to know what to do before getting a spray tan? Be sure to read this post entirely before booking!

Spray tan before and after care

Before your tan:
- Exfoliate your body and shave your legs prior to your appointment.
- Avoid putting on any make-up, moisturizer, perfume, or deodorant as this could create a barrier between your skin and the spray tan and cause it to look uneven.
- If you're going to have any cosmetic appointments done such as a manicure, pedicure, hair appointment, waxing, etc. it's best to have this done prior to your appointment.
- Prepare your schedule so that the day of your spray tan you won't sweat or get wet for at least 8 hours after your appointment.

During your tan:
- Remove all jewelry, glasses, and articles of clothing you don't wish to be sprayed in.
- It is up to your comfort level for what you will wear while being spray tanned. I advise wearing dark or old underwear or a bathing suit to avoid any discoloration the solution may cause on the material. If you prefer to go n**e, that is acceptable as well - just be advised that you will not be able to put tight fitting undergarments on afterwards as to avoid messing up your developing tan.
- We will discuss the spray tan process and your desired look, as well as instructions for being sprayed.
- I will provide all the materials you will need for the spray tan process (hair cap, lotion, etc.) to ensure the best spray tan possible.
- It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to be sprayed and to dry off.

After your tan:
- You will feel sticky for an hour or so but you will be dry enough to put on clothes.
- Wear dark colored, loose fitting clothes. I usually advise a long sleeve t shirt and long cotton type pants. This will help you avoid any stains on your clothing, as well as disrupting your tan. Keep in mind, clients who are sprayed bra-less will need to leave bra-less. 😉
- You will need to wear the solution for a minimum of 8 hours. You can wear it longer if you prefer (some people swear by this) - it won't negatively effect the tan.
- Don't sweat or get wet during this time. Moisture will cause unevenness and streaking.
- After 8 hours, you will be able to rinse off. Use ONLY warm water to rinse the bronzer off. Use your hands to ensure it comes off evenly.
- Don't use any shampoo, soap or an exfoliator during this first shower. Soap or an exfoliator will compromise the tan's development.
- Blot your skin dry with a towel, and be sure to keep your skin well moisturized to keep your tan looking its best.

Maintaining your tan:
- Your tan will last 7-10 days.
- To keep your tan looking its best, avoid using a rag or loofa in the shower. Apply a gentle body wash with your hands, and be sure to shave your legs gently.
- Continue to blot dry after you bathe and keep your skin well moisturized.
- Certain areas will fade faster such as your face from more frequent washing, make up removal, acne medicine, Retin-A and other facial products.

I just wanted to take a moment to update everyone on some recent changes and important updates happening at Bronze Secret Organic Spray Tan!

Since the holidays are right around the corner, I have updated my calendar in Vagaro through the end of the year to give everyone a head's up for when I will be out of town or unavailable to spray tan. I know many of you will also travel in the upcoming weeks so make sure to book your spray tan in advance if you know you have something coming up! You can either book online through Vagaro or text message me personally (228-669-1716) to schedule.

In an effort to maximize available bookings and avoid last-minute cancellations, I have made the business decision to require pre-payment of all bookings. Beginning November 1, 2022, if you cancel or reschedule within 48 hours of your previously scheduled spray tan time, your prepayment will not be refunded. This is to help me better serve all of you as well as eliminate most scheduling issues. If you have already scheduled an upcoming appointment, I will be sending out invoices to keep your existing spot, next week.

Also, to keep up with the cost of everything increasing, I will be making a price adjustment effective 12/1/2022. In salon spray tans will go from $45/session to $50/session.

On an exciting note, I am planning a retail launch in 2023 to help you keep your spray tan looking great and keep your bronzed glow for as long as possible! Look out for updates on Facebook and Instagram!
