Today’s showcase is another classic and gorgeous peony. Alexander Fleming is slightly a darker pink than the Classic Sarah Bernhardt peony that is what everyone thinks of when they think of peony flowers. This is a great performer and producers for us here at the farm in North Texas. Check it out over on our website.

She is probably my favorite peony we grow here on the farm. She has HUGE gorgeous blooms and a LOT of them. Angel Cheeks is still available over on our website but just a few remain!

We grow a lot of beautiful flowers - but do you know what I am real good at growing…….w**ds and grass - and LOTS of it. SO - we grow a cover crop to give nutrients back into the soil and then we tarp it, roll up the sides and close the doors for a month or too. This does several thing for us - most importantly it kills off bugs/eggs in the soil and also kills off the w**d seeds that have built up over the season. This creates a great start for when we plant our spring crops into it in less than 2 months. It was only 11 am when it was about up to 140!

We will be at market in the morning from 8-12 McKinney Farmers Market with lots of beautiful flowers and we will also be kicking our 7th annual peony root sale off too! You can go to our webpage to see all the beautiful peony that we grow right here on our farm in North Texas - OVER 1400 plants. YES - peony do grow here and do well! The key is starting with HUGE roots that we get from our supplier over in the Netherlands. They will dig the roots in a few weeks, put it into a cargo container and ship it over to us in November.
