How is Lewy Body Dementia Different from Dementia?

Lewy Body Dementia differs from other forms of dementia in several essential ways.

While all dementias involve progressive cognitive decline, Lewy body dementia is marked by pronounced fluctuations in alertness and attention, vivid visual hallucinations, and movement symptoms that resemble Parkinson’s disease, such as tremors, stiffness, and changes in walking.

Lewy Body Dementia is one of the most commonly MISDIAGNOSED dementias.

Often times, people are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or depression before doctors realize it is actually Lewy Body Dementia.

This happens because symptoms can appear in a different order for each person.

Awareness helps families ask the right questions.

This page has been a long time idea that is finally coming to fruition. It is created to shine a light on Lewy Body Dementia — a disease that many people have never heard of until it touches their life. It touched me as I watched my dad suffer from this terrible disease.

Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is the second most common form of dementia, yet it is often misunderstood or misdiagnosed. My dad, Mike, was first diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. At the time, we knew it was more than that. It can affect memory, thinking, movement, sleep, and often causes vivid hallucinations. Families often feel confused and alone while trying to understand what is happening to someone they love.

My goal with this page is simple:

✨ Offer support and understanding
✨ Help others learn about this complex disease

Over time, I will also share products created with purpose through LewyLuz — “Live Your Light.” I began my journey after losing my dad. I came upon a goat farm and learned how to make goat milk soap. This is how I began my love of creating and was able to begin healing.
