When most people hear “inflammation,” they picture a swollen joint or an injury. Something visible. Something acute.
But the inflammation that interferes most with metabolic and hormonal health is the kind you can’t see or feel. It’s chronic, low-grade, and persistent. And it operates beneath the surface for months or years before anyone thinks to look for it.
It shows up in ways that don’t seem related. Weight that plateaus despite consistent effort. Hormone therapy that should be working but isn’t delivering the expected results. Fatigue that persists even with adequate sleep. Joint stiffness that has no clear cause.
These aren’t separate problems. They’re often symptoms of the same underlying process.
Two of the most informative markers for identifying chronic low-grade inflammation are CRP and fasting insulin. Neither is included on most standard panels. But together, they reveal a metabolic environment that may be quietly undermining everything else you’re doing to feel better and function well.
Addressing inflammation isn’t about a single supplement or protocol. It starts with identifying it. And that starts with testing that goes beyond the basics.
✅ Book your wellness Roadmap to evaluate your Metabolic Health and find out whether inflammation is interfering with your progress.

Your annual bloodwork probably includes fasting glucose and A1c. And if those numbers come back in range, you’re told your metabolism is fine.
But glucose is one of the last markers to move. It stays in range while your body compensates behind the scenes, producing more and more insulin to keep blood sugar steady. By the time glucose rises, the dysfunction has been developing for years.
Fasting insulin tells a different story. It reveals how hard your body is working to maintain that “normal” glucose reading. And it can flag insulin resistance at its earliest, most reversible stage, long before glucose or A1c ever shifts.
The problem is, most standard metabolic panels don’t include it. So patients walk away with a clean report while the earliest signs of dysfunction go undetected.
This matters because insulin resistance doesn’t just lead to diabetes. It drives weight gain, inflammation, hormonal imbalance, cardiovascular risk, and fatigue. And the earlier it’s identified, the more options you have to reverse it through nutrition, movement, and targeted support.
If your bloodwork has only ever included glucose and A1c, you may be missing the most informative marker on the panel.
✅ Schedule your Wellness Roadmap to get bloodwork that has your overall metabolism in mind and yes- includes a fasting insulin. It’s one test, and it may be the most informative marker on the panel.

Retinol has earned its place in skincare. But the redness, peeling, and irritation? That’s where a lot of people give up.
ZO just introduced a NEW retinol formulated with tolerability in mind, and I’m excited to have it at NOJE!
Retinol is one of my favorite ingredients for addressing visible signs of aging, uneven tone, and texture. But the goal isn’t to use the strongest product you can find. It’s to find the right product for YOUR skin and use it consistently.
Already using retinol and love your current formula? Our original ZO retinols are 25% off this month while supplies last!
This month, we’re showing a little love back. Keep an eye on stories for this week’s NOJE Loves You Back Giveaway!

Your routine has ten steps. You alternate retinol nights with acid nights. You’ve added a vitamin C serum, a toner with AHAs, and an exfoliating cleanser.
Your skin should be glowing. Instead it’s red, tight, stinging when you apply moisturizer, and breaking out in places it never used to.
That’s your skin barrier telling you it’s been worn too thin.
Your barrier is the outermost layer of your skin. It holds moisture in and keeps irritants out. Every time you exfoliate, you remove part of it. In the right dose, that stimulates renewal. In excess, it strips faster than your skin can rebuild.
When the barrier thins:
→ Moisture escapes, leaving skin dry and tight
→ Irritants pe*****te more easily, causing redness and sensitivity
→ Inflammation increases, which accelerates visible aging
→ Products sting or burn that never did before
The fix isn’t a better serum. It’s healing your skin barrier.
We help patients identify which products are helping and which are quietly doing damage, then build a protocol that protects the barrier instead of grinding it down.
✅ If your skincare routine is making your skin worse, a consultation can sort out what to keep, what to cut, and what your skin actually needs right now. Schedule your skin assessment.

The fear of duck lips is real. We’ve all seen them on TV.
But that’s not the expected outcome with an experienced injector who values a conservative approach and natural aesthetics.
Maybe you want to soften those vertical lip lines, restore lost volume, see a little more of your upper lip when you smile, or simply create better balance.
The goal isn’t to change your lips. It’s to enhance what you already have.

Dark spots and melasma are not the same condition. They look similar, but the treatments that clear one can make the other worse.
Sun spots and post-acne marks sit near the surface. They respond well to peels, lasers, and skin care agents. Once treated, they typically stay gone with proper sun protection.
Melasma runs deeper. It’s driven by hormones, heat, and UV. The pigment cells are overactive and respond to internal triggers, which is why it fades in winter and flares in summer, or came back after pregnancy, birth control, or HRT.
In melasma-prone skin, inflammation triggers pigment cells to produce even more melanin. So aggressive treatments meant to lighten the skin can actually make it darker.
The approach that works is slower and more strategic:
→ Gentle topicals to suppress pigment production
→ Strict UV and heat protection
→ Treatments that calm inflammation rather than create it
→ Ongoing management, not a one-time fix
We assess what type of hyperpigmentation you’re dealing with before recommending anything. The wrong approach doesn’t just waste time. It sets you back.
✅ If your dark spots keep returning despite treatment, the type of pigmentation and the approach may need re-evaluating. Schedule your skin consultation.

You both walked into the same clinic. Maybe sat in the same chair. She’s smooth at four months. You’re seeing lines creep back at six weeks.
So you start wondering if it just doesn’t work on you.
But how long neurotoxin lasts usually comes down to three things:
→ Your metabolism. A faster metabolic rate breaks down neurotoxin sooner. If you train hard, your body clears it faster.
→ Your muscle strength. Stronger facial muscles need more precise dosing. If the units don’t match the muscle, results fade earlier.
→ Where the units go. “20 units” means nothing without knowing the injection pattern. Placement across your specific anatomy matters as much as total dose.
When your results fade fast, the first thing worth evaluating is whether the dosing strategy matched your anatomy, your muscles, and your metabolism.
That’s what a thorough injectable assessment covers before a single unit is placed.
✅ If your neurotoxin never seems to last, the answer is usually in the strategy, not the product. Schedule your injectable consultation and let’s build a plan that fits your anatomy.

The conversation about GLP-1 medications focuses almost entirely on the scale. What rarely comes up is what’s happening above the neck.
When you lose weight, you lose fat everywhere, including the pads that give your face its structure. When those shrink:
→ Cheeks hollow out
→ Temples sink inward
→ Lines deepen around the mouth and jaw
→ Skin sags where it used to sit tight
You may love how your body looks and feel like your face aged five years. Friends say you look tired when you actually feel better than you have in years.
Two treatments address this differently:
→ Biostimulators (like Sculptra) rebuild collagen gradually, restoring structural support in the areas where volume loss is most visible
→ Hyaluronic acid filler restores contour more immediately in specific areas like cheeks or under-eyes, without an overfilled look
→ Targeted skin care to support collagen, elasticity, and overall skin health
The goal is to recognize this is possible and support what changes may occur with weight loss. We evaluate where volume has shifted and build a restoration plan that works with your progress, not against it. And when you work with Damara for metabolic health & weight loss- she will talk prevention and create a plan to support skin health from the start.
✅ If your face has changed since starting GLP-1 therapy, a facial assessment can map where volume has shifted and what restoration looks like for you. Schedule your consultation.
