THE 48-HOUR RULE + FILLER DO’S & DON’TS

The Rule:
You and I MUST both be available to each other for 48 hours after ANY dermal filler treatment. This means neither of us should be traveling away from the area during this critical period.

This is non-negotiable and is part of my commitment to providing safe, responsible care.

The Why:
While dermal filler is very safe when performed by a trained medical provider, every injection carries a small—but real—risk of complications.

If a concern arises, it is my responsibility to promptly evaluate and manage it. This may include anything from a hematoma or infection, to the rare possibility of a vascular occlusion or allergic reaction.

Early assessment and treatment are critical, which is why remaining within close proximity and maintaining open communication during the first 48 hours is so important.

Your safety will always come before convenience & money.

DO:
• Hold blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least 3 days before treatment if medically safe and approved by your prescribing provider. Examples: aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, garlic supplements, ginkgo, turmeric.
• Eat a light meal and stay well hydrated before your appointment.
• Plan to keep your schedule light for the remainder of the day.
• Expect minor bruising, tenderness and swelling for 24-72 hours - this is normal!

DON’T:
• Drink alcohol for 24-48 hours before and after your appointment, as it can increase bruising and swelling.
• Participate in exercise for 24-48 hours after your injection, this can increase swelling, bruising and discomfort.
• Have active dental work (cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canals, etc.) within 1 week before or after filler treatments to the lips or lower face. This helps reduce inflammation and infection risk.
• Receive treatment if you have an active cold sore, skin infection, rash, or are feeling ill.
