đ¨POST-OP CARE IS NOT THE TIME FOR AGGRESSIVE MASSAGE.
I say this with love, but it needs to be said.
The weeks following surgery are some of the MOST delicate stages of the healing process. Your body is working overtime to reduce inflammation, repair tissue, restore lymphatic flow, and heal from the inside out.
You do NOT have an incision that needs to be reopened.ďż˝You do NOT need additional trauma to your tissues.ďż˝You do NOT need unnecessary pain to âbreak things up.â
So why, on Godâs green earth, would we intentionally create more trauma inside a body that is desperately trying to heal?
The Brazilian Post-Op Lymphatic Drainage Technique is a specialized approach. When performed correctly, it helps support the lymphatic system, reduce swelling, encourage proper healing, and minimize the risk of complications.
One of the biggest concerns I continue to see is fibrosisâhardened scar tissue that develops when inflammation, fluid, and healing tissues are not properly managed. Once fibrosis develops, it can become much more challenging to address.
Post-op care should never be about how much pain a client can tolerate. It should be about supporting the bodyâs natural healing process.
I have invested countless hours studying and training with incredible instructors outside of our area to learn the proper techniques, anatomy, and protocols required for post-surgical recovery. This work is both an art and a science.
My heart truly goes out to those who have experienced unnecessary pain, excessive pressure, or have had to revisit their surgeon because they didnât receive proper aftercare.
Healing deserves respect.
Gentle does not mean ineffective.Intentional does not mean weak.Proper technique matters.
Your body has already been through enough.
At Selah, we honor the healing processânot fight against it.

THE SELAH STANDARDđż
From Milagrosâ desk đ
Have you tried Lymphatic Drainage before reaching for ibuprofen?
Inflammation is often your bodyâs way of communicating that something needs attention. While there are times when medication is appropriate, many people overlook the bodyâs natural drainage and detoxification system: the lymphatic system.
Your body may not always be asking for suppression.
Sometimes, itâs asking for flow.
⨠Natural ways to support the body:
⢠Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
⢠Hydration with water and electrolytes
⢠Movement and walking
⢠Deep diaphragmatic breathing
⢠Quality sleep and recovery
⢠Anti-inflammatory whole foods
⢠Stress management
⢠Dry brushing (when appropriate)
⢠Compression garments (when indicated)
What does the lymphatic system help move?
The lymphatic system helps transport:
⢠Excess fluid from tissues
⢠Cellular waste and metabolic byproducts
⢠Proteins trapped in tissues
⢠Immune cells throughout the body
⢠Toxins and debris the body is working to eliminate
Unlike the heart, which pumps blood continuously, the lymphatic system relies on movement, breathing, muscle contractions, and manual stimulation to keep fluid moving efficiently.
When lymph flow becomes sluggish, people may experience:
⢠Puffiness and swelling
⢠Heaviness in the legs or arms
⢠Bloating
⢠Fatigue
⢠Brain fog
⢠Slow recovery after surgery or exercise
⢠Skin congestion
As the CEO of Selah Body Contouring & Wellness, hereâs what I tell clients:
Lymphatic Drainage isnât just a luxury treatmentâitâs a wellness practice.
How often you should receive sessions depends on your goals:
⨠Wellness & Prevention: Every 4â6 weeks
⨠Chronic Inflammation or Fluid Retention: Weekly to bi-weekly initially
⨠Athletes & Active Individuals: Every 2â4 weeks
⨠Post-Operative Clients: Follow your providerâs recommended protocol
⨠Lymphedema or Lipedema Support: Customized treatment plans based on individual needs
Signs your body may benefit from a lymphatic drainage session:
â You wake up feeling swollen or puffy
â Rings, bras, or clothing feel tighter than usual
â Your legs feel heavy by the end of the day
â You struggle with bloating despite eating well
â Recovery from workouts feels slower
â You feel sluggish or fatigued without explanation
â You experience recurring fluid retention
â You simply donât feel like yourself
At Selah, we know and believe the body was designed to heal, move, and thrive. Sometimes the first step isnât doing more.
Itâs helping the body do what it was created to do ~ flow.
