As I’m sure you have heard, today the Governor pushed our reopening out to June 1st. Unfortunately, if you have an appointment scheduled in May, you will need to reschedule your appointment through our online booking system. We look forward to seeing you beginning on June 1st. To our Valued Customers,

First and foremost, we hope that you have been safe & healthy during this time. We look forward to reopening and serving you all soon. Our plan is to reopen the shop on Wednesday, May 20th in accordance with the State guidelines for the reopening of Barber Shops.

OVERVIEW OF THE GUIDELINES

“As Connecticut's hair salons and barbershops reopen, the most important consideration will be the health and safety of employees and patrons. Hair salons & barbershops are high-contact environments that necessitate interaction in violation of social distancing rules; however, adherence to the rules developed by the State of Connecticut can mitigate the risk this contact poses. Businesses should exercise caution throughout the phases of reopening, ensuring strict adherence to the protocols listed here. Those businesses that are not able to meet these by May 20, shall delay opening until they are able.” “While these rules provide a way for hair salons and barbershops to reopen as safely as possible, risks to customers and employees cannot be fully mitigated. Customers who choose to visit hair salons and barbershops during this time should be aware of potential risks. Individuals over the age of [65] or with other health conditions should not visit hair salons & barbershops, but instead continue to stay home and stay safe.”

HOW WILL THIS WORK?

• Customers will be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – NO WALK-INS. We will have an online scheduling system available soon on our website. Please check our website www.sleepinggiantbarbershop.com.

• Services offered will be restricted to hairdressing and eyebrows only, nothing that would require removal of a facemask (e.g., beard trimming, moustache trimming, etc.)

• Contactless payment is highly ENCOURAGED. We will have the contactless payment system available soon on our website. Please check our website www.sleepinggiantbarbershop.com.

• If you are unable to make contactless payment, we ask that you please bring cash in the exact amount in a Ziploc bag. We are trying to avoid any unnecessary direct contact with cash.

• Appointments will have to be short and sweet in order to accommodate all of our customers in our new limited capacity.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR CUSTOMERS:

• CUSTOMERS SHALL NOT ENTER IF THEY ARE EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19. CDC-defined symptoms, including cough, shortness of breath, or any two of the following symptoms:

• Fever

• Chills

• Repeated shaking with chills

• Muscle pain

• Headache

• Sore throat

• New loss of taste or smell

• MASKS/FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED! Customers are required to bring and wear masks or cloth face covering that completely covers the nose and mouth unless doing so would be contrary to his health or safety due to a medical condition. If you forgot your mask or face covering, you will have to reschedule your appointment. This is for our safety and yours.

• Please be on time for your appointment. This will help ensure that we keep to the schedule and we don’t have overlapping of customers.

• Please do not bring any additional people to your appointment. We can only have one customer in the shop at a time.

• There will be NO WAITING inside the shop for your appointment. Please wait in your car until the appointment before yours has safely exited the shop.

• There will be hand sanitizer available at the door. Please sanitize your hands immediately upon entering.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:

• We will complete a thorough cleaning of the shop prior to reopening including, but not limited to: Bathroom, chairs and headrests, shears, combs, brushes, clippers, guards etc. The shop is also being freshly painted.

• We will clean high touch areas often with proper disinfectant.

• We will have two sets of instruments so we will have ample time to properly disinfect in between appointments which will limit the wait time for your appointment.

• We will wash and/or sanitize our hands before we start your appointment.

• We are required to wear a facemask and a face shield at all times. Gloves are optional.

• We will Increase ventilation rates by leaving the windows open, weather permitting.

• All capes will be laundered nightly.

• We will complete the self-certification on the DECD website to receive our Reopen CT badge to show we are in adherence with the reopening guidelines.

The reopening date can still be changed by the State so please stay tuned here or check our website for updates!
