Introducing Human & Canine Wellness Sessions!

Sometimes the best ideas come from real-life experiences.

Recently, I had the opportunity to provide massage sessions for both Osiris and his owner during the same visit. What began as a canine massage appointment turned into something that felt incredibly natural: caring for both ends of the leash.

As a Connecticut Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Canine Massage Therapist, I realized that many of us spend so much time caring for our pets that we often forget to care for ourselves.

That’s why I’m excited to officially offer Human & Canine Wellness Sessions.

Through Align & Restore Massage Therapy and Willow Paws Canine Massage, I provide compassionate, in-home wellness services for people and their canine companions.

Whether your dog is a senior companion, an active athlete, or simply enjoys a little extra care, these visits allow both of you to receive personalized wellness support in the comfort of your own home.

My goal is simple: to help every member of the family experience greater comfort, mobility, relaxation, and quality of life.

Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others

Caregivers often spend so much time taking care of spouses, parents, children, family members, and friends that their own needs fall to the bottom of the list.

I understand that feeling.

Caregiving can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally exhausting.

Over time, stress may show up as:

• Neck and shoulder tension
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• Trouble sleeping
• Low back discomfort
• Feeling overwhelmed

One thing I’ve learned is that self-care isn’t selfish.

Taking care of yourself allows you to continue showing up for the people you love.

Whether that means a walk outside, a quiet cup of coffee, reading a book, spending time with your dog, or scheduling a massage, your well-being matters too.

🌼 You deserve care, too.

Massage therapists get tight hips too. 🙋‍♀️

One of the biggest challenges for me is all the driving I do. Between traveling to massage appointments, sitting at my computer, and everyday life, my hips and glutes can get pretty tight.

One of my favorite self-care tools is this simple massage ball.

I use it against a wall or on the floor to apply gentle pressure to areas that feel particularly tight, especially the glutes and piriformis muscles.

I’m not going to lie, it isn’t always comfortable in the moment. 😅

But when I find a particularly tight spot and spend a little time working with it, I often notice less tension, better mobility, and more comfort afterward.

A few tips if you decide to try it:

✔️ Start gently
✔️ Breathe and relax into the pressure
✔️ Avoid sharp or shooting pain
✔️ Less pressure is often more effective than trying to “crush” the muscle

While this isn’t a replacement for massage therapy or medical care, it can be a helpful tool between sessions when your body is asking for a little extra attention.

After all, even massage therapists need self-care. 💆‍♀️✨

While his human enjoyed her massage, Osiris patiently waited for his turn from the comfort of his supervisory chair.

As a licensed massage therapist and certified canine massage therapist, it’s incredibly rewarding to help both people and their beloved companions relax, unwind, and feel their best.
