The Truth of Color Corrections - Let’s get into it.
When you take on a correction, you’re already working with damaged, compromised, & fragile hair. In order to protect their mane, the work ahead is tedious. Strand for strand separating the hair and applying lightener only where it’s strong enough to do so. Knowing which developer to use, having a gentle lightener made for previously lightened hair, and usually having 2-3 bowls of it all mixed with different strength developers for different areas are all CRUCIAL for keeping their hair healthy and getting to your goal.
If you thought you were getting a lunch during processing time- think again, those foils need watched, opened & checked on. Reapplication is needed in some areas and others need pulled sooner than you expected. The hair may not loft they way you expected it to, the previous color may give you issues, well water will react to the lightener…It’s a hands on process the ENTIRE time.
After the lightener is pulled the jobs not done. Porosity fillers are almost always a must for even saturation of the toner. Formulating the toner, accounting for pigments to cancel out your unwanted tones, filler colors, and keeping her goal tone in mind all go into formulation, and you’ll always want to follow up with a treatment and mask.
Communication is huge. Be realistic with expectations and not over promising in one session when the hair needs a break and really could use 2+. Know that a cut is definitely needed to get rid of the previous damage and make room for new growth with their corrected canvas for a healthy new start is also essential and go through a THOROUGH after- care routine to be used at home. Teach them what their hair needs, what not to do, and what products are going to be best for it from here on out… 80% of their hair is their responsibility. 20% of it is yours in the salon, Make sure you help them understand what their 80% looks like to keep it looking and feeling good until they see you next
There is no quick fix. It’s going to take HOURS. Our first session took 8+ hours, our second took 5+. We’re totaling 13+ hours of our undivided attention to your hair & it’s worth every second of it.
We’ve been getting a ton of love and questions from younger stylists and clients as we grow so we thought A little Q&A would be so fun to do for you guys🫶🏼 Part 1!

A Few Blonde Aftercare Tips To Keep Your Hair Just As Amazing As When You Left The Salon
1. Replace your second shampoo with a purple or blue shampoo once a week & follow it up with a moisturizing mask. (Purple shampoo can be drying! Make sure you always rehydrate)
Blue Shampoo= cuts unwanted orange tones
Purple Shampoo= cuts unwanted yellow tones
2. Turn your hot tools down & always use heat protectant! You’re literally burning your toner out, they are only semi/demi permanent colors.
3. Come back in for a gloss refresh every 4-6 weeks
4. Use a water filtration system to keep unwanted minerals from coating your hair & ruining your color
5. ALWAYS use a color safe, professional grade shampoo and conditioner!
