Lately, a specific quote by James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) has been stuck in my head. “Making a choice that is 1 percent better or 1 percent worse seems insignificant in the moment, but over the span of moments that make up a lifetime, these choices determine the difference between who you are and who you could be. Success is the product of daily habits - not once-in-a-lifetime transformations.”
This quote is extremely relevant to the work I do as a massage therapist. I’m limited to 60 or 90 minutes with you in each session, and what you do outside my room has a much greater impact than I can possibly compete with.
My greatest strength as a massage therapist is not my ability to “fix” anything that may or may not be wrong with you, but to give gentle reminders of the effects your daily activities have on your body.
We’re not looking for perfection, just 1% better than yesterday.
