Born in Philadelphia and partly raised in Italy, Kobe Bryant was recognized as the top high-school basketball player in the U.S. while at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. The son of former NBA player Joe Bryant, he declared for the 1996 NBA draft after graduation, and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick; the Hornets then traded him to the Lakers.

As a rookie, Kobe earned a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest, and he was named an All-Star by his second season.

Kobe led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons. In 2006, he scored a career-high 81 points; the second most points scored in a single game in league history, behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in 1962. Bryant led the team to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, and was named NBA Finals MVP on both occasions.

Bryant is the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. He was also the first guard in NBA history to play at least 20 seasons. His 18 All-Star designations are the second most all time, while it is the record for most consecutive appearances as a starter. Bryant's four All-Star Game MVP Awards are tied with Bob Pettit for the most in NBA history. He gave himself the nickname "Black Mamba" in the mid-2000s, and the epithet became widely adopted by the general public. At the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, he won two gold medals as a member of the U.S. national team.

Bryant retired after the 2015–16 season.

In 2018, he won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for his 2017 film Dear Basketball.

Bryant died at age 41, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others, in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California in 2020.

Maya Angelou was an American author, actress, screenwriter, dancer, poet and civil rights activist best known for her 1969 memoir, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which made literary history as the first nonfiction bestseller by an African American woman.

Maya published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees, including two NAACP Image Awards in the outstanding literary work (nonfiction) category, in 2005 and 2009.

In 1993, Angelou recited her poem "On the Pulse of Morning" at the presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton, becoming the first poet to make an inaugural recitation since Robert Frost at John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1961.

In 2011, President Obama presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, “A childhood of suffering and abuse actually drove her to stop speaking – but the voice she found helped generations of Americans find their rainbow amidst the clouds, and inspired the rest of us to be our best selves,” Obama said.

Angelou died on the morning of May 28, 2014 at the age 86. Although Angelou had reportedly been in poor health and had canceled recent scheduled appearances, she was working on another book, an autobiography about her experiences with national and world leaders.

Maya Angelou was famous for her teachings, through her spoken word and her written poetry which explored the experiences and viewpoints of being an African-American woman in the United States, as well as more inspirational works that helped shape modern day and mainstream poetry and prose. Her inspiring lessons remain as intrinsic a part of American culture.

🐶Today is a day to embrace one special trait that makes us human: our love of our pets!

🐍There are many things that differentiate humans from the rest of the animal kingdom, but one of the more unusual behaviors is our longstanding tendency to keep other animals as pets. Almost sixty percent of Americans are current pet owners.

🦩Nobody really knows exactly what animal the very first pet was. But, one animal, the wolf, lived alongside early humans for centuries. Even as far back as 12,000 years ago, dogs and cats were buried in their human counterparts’ graves. It seems that even early humans had a deep attachment to their furry friends!

🐎It only makes sense to commemorate something that’s so important to so many people, so on February 20, every year, we celebrate our pets with National Love Your Pet Day!

🐓Drop your pics below and show us your pets!!!

We develop each blend of all natural carrier oils and essential oils to maximize the benefits of each ingredient in the batch. By choosing all natural ingredients this allowed us to have a detergent free soap with no additives or preservatives. We do this in small batches, so each bar maintains the integrity of the ingredient combinations.

Each of these combinations can help your skin maintain its natural properties by trapping in moisture and keeping your skin hydrated throughout the day.

River Clay is one of our newer small batch vegan soaps. We used activated charcoal and tumeric to create this beautiful tri-colored soap, and with a special blend of essential oils, this soap will heighten your senses and get you ready for whatever the day may hold.

Barack H. Obama was the 44th President of the United States.

Few presidents have walked a more improbable path to the White House. Born in Hawaii to a mother from Kansas and a father from Kenya, Obama was raised with help from his grandparents, whose generosity of spirit reflected their Midwestern roots. The homespun values they instilled in him, paired with his innate sense of optimism, compelled Obama to devote his life to giving every child, regardless of his or her background, the same chance America gave him.

After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants. That experience honed his belief in the power of uniting ordinary people around a politics of purpose, in the hard work of citizenship, to bring about positive change.

In law school, he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, then he returned to Illinois to teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago and begin a career in public service, winning seats in the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate.

On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States, winning more votes than any candidate in history.

In 2009, Obama became the fourth president to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

In 2012, he was reelected over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney by 332 to 206 electoral votes.

In the last year of his second term, Obama spoke at two events that clearly moved him—the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, and the dedication of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. “Our union is not yet perfect, but we are getting closer,” he said in Selma. “And that’s why we celebrate,” he told those attending the museum opening in Washington, “mindful that our work is not yet done.”

💟 Happy Valentine's day y'all!

We normally don't celebrate Valentine's but this year we are definitely not doing anything. 🥶 We are frozen down here in Texas. It is 19° and snowing 😱.

Are you celebrating? We would love to know how and a bonus if you have pictures 😊❤

02/13/2021

Y'all!

This weather in Texas is something else! Listen, I know its colder other places but it was almost 80° last week and now we are at around 26° with a storm coming that will take us down to around 9°!
We aren't built for this down here 🤪

Since we knew this was coming, we planned ahead for Galentine's! Meme and I went and got mani/pedis a couple of days ago!

I've actually never done this or if I have I never gave it a name. Galentine's, not mani/pedis lol. We needed to make sure we took time as friends, since most of our time is dedicated as business partners. Don't get me wrong I love being busy with business, but its nice to remind ourselves every once in awhile that we were friends first!

Do y'all do anything similar? If so what do you do? Brunch, mani/pedis, coffee? Let us know below!
