In this video, we’re showing how to create I-tip extensions using our Italian keratin powder, for stylists who want an alternative to fusion, or for clients who feel more comfortable with a microbead method.

Because I-tips are installed with beads, the technique might feel closer to sew-in wefts. This gives the ability to create hybrid methods, where I-tips and wefts can be maintained at the same appointment.

🪄It’s also a smart way to minimize waste and increase profitability, you’re using your materials more efficiently while expanding your service offerings.

🪄And for clients with finer hair around the front or hairline, I-tips are the perfect addition to a weft install, filling in areas where a weft might be too visible.

Pro tips for creating strong I-tips:
1. You don’t need as much keratin as you would for traditional fusion bonds, keep it minimal and controlled
2. Every strand should be evenly saturated, but not overloaded, too much product will create bulky, uncomfortable tips
3. Make sure the keratin fully penetrates the hair to form a secure bond
4. Use rubber gloves when rolling, this creates the right friction for smoother tips
5. Compress and roll firmly to ensure the tip is strong, compact, and durable
6. Use your microbead as a guide for thickness and height, this keeps your tips consistent
7. Trim any uneven edges to avoid discomfort
8. Especially important for those who are used to softer, factory-made I-tips. Custom made I-tips may need slight reshaping around the 2nd or 3rd move-up, keep that in mind for maintenance appointments

One of the important skills in K-Tip creation is how you hold the hair during encapsulation.

🪄Before encapsulating, secure the loose bundle with a zip tie to keep the hair tight and controlled.

🪄Then, hold the bundle between your thumb and pointer finger. For a stronger grip, wrap the ends around your ring finger and pinky. This creates tension and keeps the bundle secure while you work.

🪄Select the section you want to encapsulate first, then push the remaining hair back and lock it between your pointer and middle finger. This keeps the remaining hair secure and tucked away, allowing you to focus on the section you’re currently encapsulating between your thumb and pointer finger.

This technique works for both long ribbon and individual bonds, helping improve consistency, control, and workflow throughout the encapsulation process.
