Dear Beautiful Brown Girl, A Lifestyle Brand for Black Girls. We deliver innovative products to inspire a strong sense of self and cultural pride.

Why does #RepresentationMatter? Representation Matters because there’s a body of research and a term known as ‘symbolic annihilation,’ which is the idea that if you don’t see people like you in the media you consume, you must somehow be unimportant. We strive to encourage Black Girls to walk this earth with a sense of self so strong that it cannot be manipulated or demeaned by anyone. Check out o

Here are 5 tips on how to support children who have been victims of bullying:

1. Listen and Validate: One of the most important things you can do is to lend an empathetic ear. Encourage the child to share their experiences and emotions without judgment. Validate their feelings and let them know that what they are going through is not their fault.

2. Offer Support: Be there for the child and let them know they are not alone. Offer emotional support, reassurance, and encouragement. Let them know that you believe in them and are there to help.

3. Encourage Open Dialogue: Create a safe space for the child to express their feelings and concerns. Encourage them to speak openly about their experiences with trusted adults, such as parents, teachers, or school counselors. Encourage them to share details of the bullying incidents, including dates, times, and locations, to provide a comprehensive understanding.

4. Involve School Personnel: If the bullying is occurring at school, it's essential to involve school personnel who can address the situation appropriately. Reach out to teachers, counselors, or school administrators to make them aware of the situation and advocate for the child's well-being.

5. Teach Coping Strategies: Empower the child with strategies to cope with bullying. Help them understand that bullies often seek power and control, and it's important not to give in or retaliate. Teach them effective communication skills, assertiveness, and methods to seek help from trusted adults when needed.

Meet Fallon! Fallon is selectively mute - she is super shy around people she doesn’t know and will sometimes whisper or choose not to speak at all. She is cheerful and bubbly around her close knit friends and family. Even though she is shy around new people and/or large groups of people, she is not afraid to speak up when someone or something is bothering her.
She likes to write and read and always has a book or notebook in her hand. She writes poems and short stories and will record herself telling a story so she can go back and write it down later.

I chose Fallon as our anti-bullying character because although she is quiet and can be very shy, she is very brave. When she sees that someone is uncomfortable or is being picked on she will go out of her way to check on them. She makes posters reminding people to be kind, She also writes short stories about situations that she has observed and she changes the scenario so that if someone is being bullied, there is a positive ending.
