Dreams Do Come True

It all started when I was 14 years old and had my first bad tanning experience. It was 30 minute unit and I had no idea what I was doing, and I remember the girl behind the counter didn’t either. I go in the bed and did the full 30 minutes, that was a mistake! lol! A few days later I bumped my time down and the tan began. I tanned through high school and ended up going through cosmetology school, The first salon I worked for had 2 beds and a seperate entrance. I couldn’t do hair yet but was able to be there and run the beds, eventually I started cutting hair there when i got my license. After awhile I moved on and worked at another hair salon that had 2 beds and lots of tanning lotions. When I didn’t have appointments I was constantly learning about the lotions, what was in them and how i could be darker. Several years, and a son later I moved to Phoenix! WOW! That was a big change for a small town Hays girl. I ended up getting my first job at a tanning salon, The franchise had 5 stores and my store had 20 units and all the lotions and awesome beds galore. Working for this chain I had to go to lotion classes, get Smart Tan certified. After a couple years I moved on to a even bigger franchise that was all over the USA, I went from working behind the counter to doing promotions for 17 tanning spas. I moved back to Hays after several years in Phoenix, became a store manager at Claires for years until it closed, then Rue21 till it closed. I have wanted to open my own salon for over 20 years, i feel like none of it would’ve been possible without all the retail management experience. I now have a 21 year old son, 14 year old step daughter, and 19 month old daughter and wonderful husband, friends and family that have always stuck by me. So Yes Dreams do come true!!
