Floral Femme Tanning Co. is closing! 🌅

Due to developments in my personal life, I am closing my spray tanning business. Don't worry, all is well, these are positive life changes, just not quite ready to share! I want to thank all my clients for a wonderful year of business, it has been such a fun journey and you're the reason why! 🫶

If you would like to follow my personal account on Instagram to keep up with me and my upcoming life updates, it's 🩷 I also want to share I will be keeping my equipment so if you ever need a spray tan, shoot me a message on my main account and I'll see what I can do! Unfortunately, I will no longer have a studio location so it'll be house calls only, but I'm down to still do the occasional tan for my loyal clients if needed ☺️

It's May which means it's Skin Cancer Awareness Month! Swipe to see why Skin Cancer Awareness Month is so important to me 🖤 (CW: stitches, scars)

Since I'm super pale with a tendency to burn easily, I'm at an increased risk of developing melanoma. I always knew this and yet in high school, I would lay out in the sun trying to get a tan and even worse, in college, I went through a tanning bed phase 😵

I'm mostly Irish which means I'm just covered in freckles and spots but this January, I noticed two moles that concerned me. Both the borders and color made me nervous so I scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist to get them checked out.

Once she saw them, she decided to biopsy them both and when the results came back, I found out that thankfully they were NOT melanoma, however they were full of abnormal cells that had an higher chance of one day turning into skin cancer! She recommended I go back in to get one of them excised because the biopsy didn't have clean margins, which means there were still some abnormal cells left behind that could cause problems down the road.

Now, it's been four months since my excision. Everything is all healed up and we got clean margins this time, but now I am left with this scar as a permanent reminder of my increased risk of developing melanoma so I'm a lot more careful than I used to be!

That is why I am a HUGE proponent of sunless tanning methods over traditional tanning! Spray tanning gives you the bronzy tan you want with no added risk of developing skin cancer so it's the perfect way to feel your best, glowiest self in a healthy way 🌞

What should you do with this info?
• Look over the ABCDE's of skin cancer on the second slide so you know what to look for when checking your skin
• Start checking your whole body once a month and monitor any moles you have for changes
• Wear sunscreen when you'll be exposed to the sun and reapply as directed
