One important thing I have learned from the world of food is that there are masters of craft who came before us that we should learn from before creating something new.
That's why I am so excited to try these two bars of beautiful soap, made in a traditional hot process method from ancient recipes.
The larger bar is a mixture of Olive and Laurel Oils, traditionally made for centuries in Aleppo. This particular bar was made in France by a Syrrian master soap maker who moved to France after his factory was destroyed due to the civil war. Bar soap is believed to have been created in this region.
The wrapped bar is Castille, or 100% Olive oil. It is made in Nablus, Palestine by one of the original Nablus families from a 10th century recipe. The soap batter is cooked in giant vats, spread on the floor, hand sliced, hand stamped and hand wrapped.
The beautiful simplicity of ingredients, painstaking craft and rich history that goes into these bars is fascinating!

With all of the work around incorporating as a business, getting insurance, inventory of product etc..I've been missing out on some quality soap time. Made up for it this weekend with creamy shea butter and peppermint bastille bars and unscented, gentle, carrot, honey and olive oil facial bars.

Some of the newest batches in for cure: my favorite are the sweet owls. My sister gifted me a new mold for Christmas. These cuties are unscented and soothing with sheep yogurt, tussah silk, European clay and vanilla bean. Also revisited the first recipe I ever tried: goat milk shampoo bars with litsea and lavender.

New shea butter bars going in to cure. These lovelies get their color from all natural sources: kaolin clay and alkanet(a flower related to borage). They're scented with grapefruit, geranium and patchouli essential oils.
