Oleada (O-lee-ah-dah) is the Spanish word for the movement of waves. It felt like the right thing to name my salon as I started incorporating hydrotherapy scalp treatments into my services. I also just love the ocean.

My name is Laura J. Vela. I was born in Chicago, raised in El Paso and have been building a life in San Antonio for the past 18 years. I’ve been a hairstylist since 2005 when I started beauty school and worked in one of the top salons In Austin, Texas.

I’m a wife, mom, sister, aunt and daughter. I’m a special needs mom and being in that community has been a source of motivation to do more in the beauty industry.
