I 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 always use 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙡𝙡 the lengths for any set or fill that I do. So if a client wants 16s, length everywhere and wispy, I’ll give them 16s but I usually use sizes 10 through 16 as long as their natural lashes can handle it. It’s the 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 of these sizes that matter to create the look & style they want.⁣⁣​​​​​​​​

Sometimes I’ll only use 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝 (10-12-14-16) and strategically mix & place them depending on the look. Most times, I’ll place the client’s desired longest lengths on their 𝙊𝙒𝙉 longest/thickest natural lash. Then shorter extensions on their shorter baby lashes. Doing this ensures that the extensions will still blend nicely once they start to grow out bc the lengths are all strategically mixed in.⁣⁣​​​​​​​​

Lashing is 𝙨𝙤 much more than just putting an extension on a lash 1000x a day. It’s an art form. 🎨⁣⁣​​​​​​​​

Here's WHY: [𝐒𝐖𝐈𝐏𝐄]

MY LAYERING RECIPE:​​​​​​​​
(No matter what shape I do, this is my layering/texture process)​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
1. Create a base w/ narrow fans. Longer C curls on top layer.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
2. Use tape to pull back top & middle layers.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
3. Add shorter lengths in D curls on the bottom layer (at least 2-3mm difference & wide fans) *Always lash the bottom layer bc this is the layer thats seen first when the client opens their eyes​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
4. C curls for inner corners to avoid that super short curly p**e look 😂​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
5. C curls for outer corners unless it’s 16mm or longer, then I use D curl bc it’s not so tight anymore.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
6. Use tape to pull back different sections & layers if needed.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
7. Middle layers - this is where I play around and add a random mixture of C & D curls in varying lengths and both wide/narrow fans for the fluffie look​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
🔑 *The KEY is to understand the lash trays that you use and how the lengths & curl strengths differ per curl. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I understand the extensions in a way that I can visualize how the different curls and lengths will sit on top of each other.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
You can get better at this in 2 ways:​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
✦ By lashing with intention and knowing exactly WHERE & WHY you’re placing a certain length/curl​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
✦ Taking LOTS of photos of the set afterwards and studying it to see the kind of result you just created​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
And THAT is how you get better at artistic styling.​​​​​​​​
Lashing may be a lot of physical work but it’s also a lot of mental & intentional work.​​​​​​​​

I’ve always wondered why there aren’t any apprenticeship programs for lash artists.​​​​​​​​
Like PMU artists for brow tattoos & microblading.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I’ve spoken to so many lash artists about the first lash trainings they’ve taken and they all said the same thing-​​​​​​​​
They did not feel confident after a 1-2 day class and felt like they needed further hands-on support soon after.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Which honestly, I don’t blame them. ​​​​​​​​
There’s just too much information to learn about the art of lashing.​​​​​​​​
It’s simply not enough time to cover it all and feel 100% confident by the end of it. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
1-5 days is good to learn the basics & to jumpstart your lash career, but to truly elevate your skills and knowledge, you have to actually implement and practice on real people all the time.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I would say a MINIMUM of at least 3 models a week.​​​​​​​​
THAT is how you get better.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
No amount of lash trainings and certifications is gonna make you a master of the craft if you’re not ALWAYS practicing your skills on clients & intentionally trying to improve.​​​​​​​​

And if you don’t have clients, practice on free models!​​​​​​​​
It sucks, but we’ve all been there before.​​​​​​​​

We’ve all had to do free lashes in the beginning until we were at a point where we can confidently start charging. ​​​​​​​​
