I'm currently at a class where we are learning to palpate the 'silent waves' of the lymphatic system. Moving fluid with your body's natural rhythm. It's day 2 of 4 and our pains are starting to melt away. Really cool stuff I'm bringing home for you all!!

Come as you are. We'll celebrate. Or you can just scream.

I survived my infusion and now I'm on four days of rest. I REALLY hope that's enough because I'm booking fast for May and won't have nearly the availability ya'll are used to. There are three appointments left before May 15th and my usual emergency appointments are also booked already. So please plan ahead!

Also, due to this infusion killing my immune system, I'll be wearing a mask during treatments for the foreseeable future 😆 You all don't have to, but don't be surprised when ya see me!

Releasing your jaw may be the key to finally reducing that stubborn neck. Even if your jaw doesn't hurt, it could be tied into a holding pattern your body has developed to combat stress, trauma, or even just instability. It also works the other way around. The neck needs to free itself so your face and jaw can experience relief.

You can say it's not that's serious, but things are tangled.

Elbows, forearms, or hands yelling at you? Try ice....fer real, ice massage your forearm and see where then pain is at. After that, book your appointment and I'll help turn the volume down on the pain.

Had me a shingles vax yesterday. It has officially knocked me around a bit. My system is going haywire, but maybe some fresh air will help?

Sorry for the lack of availability this week, and I think the next few weekends are booked solid, but keep stalking the booking site in case peeps decide to switch! In the meantime, I've got a 500 page textbook that I'm attempting to get through before my course in May. You thought I used to teach lymphatic massage? This goes into realms that I didn't even know existed! This book will likely be my friend for the next two years, and will surely lead to some interesting new services. Stay tuned! I'll be back in the office as soon as I can raise my arm again!

I get a lot of questions about the need for a 90 minute session vs a 60 minute. The easy answer is simply that your nervous system barely starts to calm in a 60 min session and often that's when it's time to turn over on the table. 90 minutes gives your body the downtime that it desperately needs living in this high stress, fast pace of Northern VA.

The second reason is more complicated. Our bodies are connected by fascial slings, illustrated by the art above. This is just one sling, but it connects upper and lower body, often involving left AND right sides. To follow those slings with fascial bodywork takes time. We have to assess movement in multiple directions and determine just how a structure is being locked down...and then we have to convince your nervous system that it'll still be safe if it lets go of the holding pattern.

In short, do yourself a favor and get the 90 minutes. You'll feel more free afterwards ☺️

Feeling the tightness at the back of your neck again? Here are a few helpful stretches: Think SNIFF, SNIFF, LISTEN

Let's say we're stretching the left side of the neck.

1. Sit in a chair with arms by sides. Right ear toward right shoulder. Chin toward chest. Turn chin to right armpit. Hold.

2. Same stretch, but tuck right hand under hip or reach down actively to depress the shoulder.

3. Same stretch, but rotate chin away from armpit, as if you were listening to your right armpit.

What muscles are we stretching?
