Cherry Street Barber Parlor
A barbershop that doesn't settle for "average" service
One thing that 24 years of barbering has taught me…when these guys talk? You shut up and listen. We are proud to serve those who serve. One of the greatest joys of why we do what we do.
I was trained to barber by one of the greatest Vietnam vets walking - Purp Lavender, and another incredible servicemen Harold Gibbs.
I’ve been blessed with the greatest experiences in this industry. And it’s men like this, who have shaped who I am.
I listen when they talk.
Benny Dunn, a man whose hair I was privileged to cut for many years, and considered a friend, went through these exact types of treatment. Such a valuable wealth of experience and wisdom.
As a military contracted barber for Ft. Leonard Wood, I’ve spoke with and cut the very best out military had to offer.
There are times the crowd of soldiers parted, as mamed and decorated soldiers entered the packed PX barbershop, and were given their 1st choice of barber.
The honor we have is truly unspeakable for these heroes!!
Herrin Police Department — we just have to take a moment and say THANK YOU. 🙌
Aaron, the owner of Cherry Street Barber Parlor, had a bag stolen out of his car.
It had been missing for several days.
Then a fraud alert hit — someone was trying to use the contents.
That’s when it became clear this wasn’t a case of something being misplaced.
It had been stolen.
A report was filed with the Herrin PD this morning.
In just a few hours — they had identified who did it and had them in custody.
Let that sink in.
A few hours.
That is not just good police work — that is extraordinary.
That is an agency that actually cares about the people and the businesses of this community.
That is what it looks like when the ones sworn to protect you take that commitment seriously.
We are so blessed to be a part of a community like Herrin.
We don’t take that for granted.
Thank you, Herrin Police Department.
You showed up — and this city is better because of you. 🚔💙
