Johnny's Barbershop Downunder

Proud to be the "unofficial" (official) Barber for my high school Football and Basketball Coaches. Always makes me very happy to be able to spend some time with Gump and Coach Etch. They are both cleaned up and good for another 1000...

I just learned today that we lost a great friend and colleague in the Barber industry.
John Payne from Irwin PA was a great man. He was a family man and very passionate about the Barber Profession, serving as a former President of Hair International, PA. He also served numerous years on the PA State Board of Barber Examiners, where he served as Chairman. I was honored to serve under him as his Vice Chair. He groomed me for my terms as Chairman. John was also a proud member and Delegate for PA with the National Association of Barber Boards of America (NABBA).
He was a good man and he will be missed.
May Lou and Family, my sincerest condolences.

Happy 4th of July!

So i wanted to take the time to pay tribute to Gable Barber Supply Company. Terry and Todd Snyder have decided to retire. Terry Has been my sales rep for over 20 years and before Terry i worked very closely with my dear friend John King, who I met while in Barber School. We developed a working relationship and became good friends. When John left, Terry took over.
Just so you understand, Gable barber Supply was a Barber Supply Company who would come to you with a mobile truck and deliver barber supplies, so we wouldn’t have to run out to other places to get what we need. They were timely, efficient, professional and great to work with. I have been doing business with them for over 23 years. You always knew every 2-3 weeks when they were coming, and if they weren’t coming, you knew that too.
Terry and Todd, I wish you all the best in your retirement. You both have worked hard and you both deserve it. I will miss you Terry… I miss you already.
Thank you for the great service and help over the years.
I don’t know what else to say but thank you and best of luck in all you do in your future.

Im sure there is a backstory to it that I obviously am unaware of, but I gotta say ... I am NOT a fan of ANY Barbershop being open on Thanksgiving Day. The same shop in York, PA has been open the last few years on Thanksgiving .. just rubs me the wrong way. Rant over carry on...

My old friend from the radio days John Wilsbach stopped in for a harircut and visit. Had fun getting caught up and reminiscing. He works hard and is just as busy as he wants to be... Great to see him!

Happy National Barber Day!
