If we are being honest, I felt “non-essential” before 2020 told me I was

I think a lot of hairstylists have. For being such a technical industry that involves the use of sharp blades, hot tools, volatile reactive chemicals, geometry, chemistry, sterilization practices and basic psychology we didn’t get much credit Pre-Pandemic. We were “just” hairstylists. It’s “just” hair after all.

I don’t say this to garner pity or praise. Because I wasn’t giving myself credit either. I loved my job. But I have questioned for 10 years whether what I do “matters enough”. I’m married to a firefighter, two of my heroes were teachers, some of my best friends are nurses. Those matter. No justification required. And for some reason I’ve always felt the need to justify my craft long before any government mandate stripped it bare for the world to see & sent me home.

But as we have dipped our toes back into being functioning members of the village I’ve come to realize through all this that my craft matters to society. That to my salon family I am essential. That to our economy my industry helps grease the wheels. That We have been saving lives all along, one act of self care at a time. It was necessary for us to stay home for a time to protect those that we could, but not because we’re unnecessary. We are an essential part of our society, of our village, even if we aren’t an essential part of the front lines.

Finally after 8 weeks we have the go ahead to open back up!!! Please be patient as we navigate through this together!!! To reopen, we have a few “restrictions” to comply with!!!

1) check your temperature before you come, if you have a fever or don’t feel good please call to reschedule!!!

2) wear a face covering!!!
This is to protect us both and our loved ones!!!

Please text your stylist or nail tech when you arrive to make sure they’re ready for you, if not just wait in your car till they give you the ok to come in, our waiting area will be closed!!!

We have missed you all and can’t wait to see your smiling faces behind the mask 😉😷😊

We’ve missed each and every one of you! 🙏 We may get to open back up the week of May 25th depending on how the next two weeks go, so stay safe!!! We will be reaching out to our clients very soon! Please be patient and buy some aqua net 🤣 Love to you all❣️

Fusion Salon will be closing our door at 5 today! We already miss all of you and the many laughs we’ve shared! We pray everyone stays healthy and we can get back to work as soon as possible!
