I don’t know how I forgot to post this one ❤️💙 Happy 60th Tina!

Long post, but I pray it reaches the woman who needs it — the business owner, future business owner, salon owner, or simply the woman navigating life.

Many people know some of my journey, but not all. And while there are seasons God teaches us things privately, there are also times He asks us to share so someone else can be encouraged.

When I opened Shear Perfection in June 2016, I was in one of the darkest seasons of my life. I was walking through a divorce from a highly toxic relationship, years of custody battles that followed, and I honestly didn’t know what
the future held — I just knew it had to be better than where I was.

I didn’t have a business plan, and I definitely didn’t know how to lead other people. But God still allowed it to grow. By 2024, I had 9 girls working alongside me, and we had built something truly special — a diverse, thriving salon in our town.

Until it wasnt.

Before I go there, I want to be honest:
I started from nothing and grew into abundance quickly— I did it with very little prayer, very little discernment, and very little stewardship. I was thankful, but I wasn’t truly seeking Him. I was building in my strength and bringing God along “just in case.” He wasn’t THE foundation.

And when you build something in your own strength, you will lose it every single time.

I could share every detail of what happened — the lies, manipulation, character assassinations, and fallout — but I won’t. That story doesn’t deserve the spotlight nor the community that thrived in the hurt. What I will say is this:

It brought me to the feet of Jesus faster than anything ever has.

Some of it was human fault. But a lot of it was spiritual warfare. I had doors open that never should’ve been open, and that open door allowed satan to plant a seed that quite literally ripped through that salon like a tornado. But looking back, I’m thankful. Because God used it..
💜to remove me from what I was building without Him..
💜He taught me the importance of guarding my heart
💜boundaries
💜wisdom
💜true friendship..
💜and discernment — especially in business.

We learn more of God in suffering than we ever do in prosperity.
And our prayers become the most sincere when we’re out of options. (Psalm 107)

I spent about a year trying to stay, rebuild, and find answers. Honestly, I wanted to be so far away from all of it... But I didn’t want to make decisions based on feelings — I wanted to move on His truth.

Then in June/July 2025, an opportunity opened in Hillsborough to rent a suite and step away from ownership. I felt like this was my season to rest and let God show me what’s next.

Rest has not been easy in this season..nor has trust..
Rest seemed like “laziness” and trust seemed scary when I had my fist so tighly gripped around what I built in the previous season.

But Hes continued to be patient and taught me alot more behind those words!

I continued to pray hard.
“Be still” kept showing up everywhere.

I asked for specific signs, and He gave them — just like Gideon did. (Judges 6:34-40)

God kept pulling me back to:
Be still. Order. Restoration. (Psalm 23)
He’s bringing rest.
He’s bringing order to my home, my finances, my heart, my calling, my spiritual life, and even unforgiveness.
And then, He will restore.

But here’s what I know now:
If God removes something for your betterment, He will place something better in your hands when you’re ready — even if it doesn’t feel good in the moment.

He’s also reminded me that my success is dependent on Him alone. I can hustle, market, force, and grind like before… or I can plant the seed, water it, and trust God with the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)

God didn’t create us to burn out trying to carry everything ourselves. He gives the ideas. He opens the doors. He brings the people — in the right time.

BUT your purpose needs to be aligned as well. It’s not about the applause of humans, money, or even how many clients you have.. theyre all fleeting.. but who He created you to be and how you steward that last beyond and through the highs and lows.

A few reminders I’m holding close and hopefully will help another in whatever season you’re in:

✨ When your dreams are placed in God’s hands, they are beyond the reach of anyone including your enemies.
✨ Nobody can take what God has for you.
✨ There is no such thing as over-saturation where God has called you — He will send the clients and opportunities.

If you’re in a season where you need direction, I highly recommend the Bible study “Discerning the Voice of God.” It helped me tremendously.

I pray this encourages someone today. There is always a bigger picture behind someone’s success that people never see. And I want the story behind my next season to be less of me — and more of where He is taking me. Less of looking back and holding onto bitterness, and more of discernment and wisdom to do better and choose better in the next season.

Being a mom and a business owner is a big responsibility… but it’s so much easier when you’re not carrying the weight alone. 💜
