He turned his own pain into a lifetime of hope. ❤️🦿
In 1969, D.R. Mehta survived a devastating road accident and spent months recovering in hospital. During that time, he saw something that stayed with him: many people who had lost limbs simply couldn't afford artificial ones.

In 1975, he founded Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot) with a simple mission—help people regain mobility, regardless of their ability to pay.

Today, the organization says it has helped more than 2.5 million people and provides artificial limbs and other mobility aids free of charge. Its 2024–25 figures report 40,078 artificial limbs and other appliances fitted in one year.

And the story goes beyond one person: the Jaipur Foot itself was developed in the 1960s by Dr. P.K. Sethi and craftsman Ram Chander Sharma. 😀
One man's suffering became a mission to give millions a second chance at mobility. ❤️
