With the first pick for the Mayor’s Choice Award, I am delighted to select Traditions Barbershop

Traditions Barber Shop, a downtown business, has truly gone above and beyond. Shortly after opening in 2018, the city notified them of a six-month road closure for repairs. Despite this challenge, Miguel remained steadfast, facing adversity head-on and working through it. His determination served him well in 2020 when the pandemic shuttered barbershops nationwide. He persevered through the obstacles without complaint, focusing on what he could control.

In addition to his grit, Miguel is actively involved in the community. He sponsors youth sports teams and other non-profit organizations, mentors aspiring barbers, and donated over 30 haircuts for the citywide giving tree. While there are many more commendable actions Miguel takes, it is his determination and commitment to giving back that earned him the Mayor’s Choice Award!

Congratulations Miguel and Traditions Barbershop. We will present the award may 7th at the Hobart Chamber of Commerce awards night.

Yesterday, one of our Hobart High School Brickies, James, had the opportunity to recognize a community member who has been a positive influence on him. Thank you to Miguel from Traditions Barbershop for Being Excellent On Purpose and helping one of our Brickies reach his potential! We appreciate you!

What an amazing turnout the last 2 days for School City of Hobart first ever back to school hair cutting event at the Hobart Middle School! This has been something we have been planning and working on the last few years and we’re so thankful we were able to make it happen! Thank you to every parent that came out and brought their child to get a haircut from us! We had so much positive feedback and we’re already looking forward to next year! We pride ourselves on giving back to the community and also supporting each other on a daily basis! Finally thank you Tony Curatolo for assisting and being able to organize and put this together for everyone! Be on the lookout for future events and exciting news for the future! What an awesome night tonight for our community to be able to come together!
