🫶🏻 In my early 20s, I was constantly getting caught up in skin care trends and chasing after “perfect” skin. But in this pursuit of perfection, I was too aggressive with my skin. Which was actually making my original concerns worse and then adding on a couple more in the process.

🌿Please be gentle with yourself and with your skin. Perfection isn’t reality. Focus instead on keeping your skin and your body healthy and happy. Over treating your skin, using too many actives, and not being patient with it will wreck your skin barrier and cause so many more problems in the long run. Since changing my mindset on this, my skin is finally getting the gentle treatment it deserves.

✨My skin is now calm with a healthy barrier and I am so much happier with it. It’s not perfect and never will be! And that’s okay!

💚Make peace with your skin and you’ll thank yourself for it later!

This is just a quick glance at the skin barrier if you have no prior understanding of what it is, why it’s important, etc. 🌿

A couple other things I’ll mention:
✨When switching to cleansing once a day, you can still double cleanse as long as you’re using a gentle cleanser after your preferred cleansing oil or balm.

🫶🏻 A damaged skin barrier doesn’t only happen on your face. A very common area this occurs is on your hands. It’s important to keep your hands moisturized and wear gloves during cold weather to keep them protected.

🧖🏼‍♀️It can also be helpful to use a humidifier to repair damage and maintain a healthy skin barrier.
