apparently I was too angry in my post yesterday and didn't clarify some of my thoughts well. 🤷‍♀️ so here's me rambling a bit about why I don't think Utah should loosen its social distancing guidelines quite yet (I truly think we're so close to a point where we could, but just not yet 😩) such as now allowing gatherings of 20 people (cringe 😬) and why some industries (the beauty industry or anything really close-contact) should wait just a bit longer to reopen, while other industries should be opening now!

I had a bunch of comments and messages in response to my post yesterday since I was angry ranting and not necessarily clear and precise with my thoughts. so here's me rambling on why I think Utah is easing up on some of our restrictions too soon, and why I'm very concerned for the beauty industry. I AM ANGRY!! this is bu****it! I don't even know if I can type, I'm so furious! 🤬🤬🤬
SALT LAKE COUNTY NEEDS TO STAY CLOSED! this gives bare minimum guidelines to "personal care services" so we're now guinea pigs to see if we get the virus?! NO. eff off if you feel this is "enough." YOUR VANITY DOES NOT TAKE PRIORITY OVER MY RIGHT TO BE SAFE AND ALIVE. I will not die or kill my family for your vanity! stop being so selfish!
we have NOT seen enough of a drop in case in Salt Lake County for this. maybe w 2-3 more weeks of lockdown, we might. things are BARELY getting better here. to remove the lockdown now only hurts us in the long run! how does that make sense?!
as a salon professional, I literally CANNOT social distance. I have to be in my guests' space, and my coworkers are only 5ft away (w their guests, which doubles the # of people we're exposed to) w literally NO way to spread out further.
so now we have to stagger who works when and determine who needs money enough to RISK THEIR LIFE for it bc our government won't do what they're supposed to and help us? NO! this is grossly inhumane and mishandled, and still almost NO ONE in UT is taking this seriously. I cannot believe this. 😤
there are some industries that I understand can safely soft open. the beauty industry is NOT one! maybe nail salons? but that's it! but massages, skin, hair? abso-effing-lutely NO. I can't wash hair with a mask on my guest. coloring will be SO messy. how do I cut hair around ears with masks on?!
the ~guidelines~ say guests can remove masks for short amounts of time, but that's just time I could contract the virus through my eyes if the guest breathes in my direction and happens to be a carrier. 🤬
THIS IS BU****IT! sorry I value my life and don't want to die or kill my mother to give you a haircut. 🙄 I am staying CLOSED for at least 2.5+ weeks so I can see what kind of spike we get in our numbers from this move that shows how much our stupid government values money > human life.

let's take a break from hair and covid posts to celebrate National Noodle (Ferret) Day with my dumb babies that I love so, so very much! Gus Gus (dark) is my big and chonky, pea-brained, super chill dude that loves nothing more than to just vibe and chow down on snacks before taking his 5th nap of the day. Zoey (white) is my special baby that I've had since she was 3 months old. she's the most stubborn and determined animal I've EVER met, she always weasel war dances for me, and she loves to snuggle at night once she's done doing all her ferret business for the day. there's not a day that goes by that these weirdos don't make me laugh til I cry. 🐾💕 fun fact: did you know a group of ferrets is called a "business?" 👨‍💼👩‍💼💼

while I miss all of my lovely guests and I miss getting creative with hair, I'm so glad this is finally happening since so many people weren't doing their part and staying home. we need to get this over with. again, I love you all and I'm so incredibly grateful for the support you've shown me through this wild time. 🙏 I am truly blessed to know so many wonderful people in this life. I will be reaching out to any of you who I cancelled last/this week or with appointments next week and will get you rescheduled ASAP now that I have a timeframe to work with. I can't wait to see all your beautiful faces in a couple weeks! stay safe and healthy, friends. 💕

just a reminder: I need to stay open at least part time so please, please reschedule if you feel sick at all! I'm waiving cancellation fees so please stay home and get healthy. I'm not worried about MYSELF getting sick, but I AM worried about bringing illness home to my 65 year-old mother.
•BUSINESSES
no one is taking more of a hit than your local, small businesses right now (and hospitals!). if you're blessed enough to feel financially secure right now, please consider supporting local businesses: order takeout/delivery, shop at local markets, help your local businesses by purchasing gift cards to use in the future.
big retailers like Target/Walmart will be okay in a few weeks (though do check on your friends who work there), but some local, small businesses will take months to recover or may never recover at all.
I'm gonna be blunt, friends: I'm one of those small businesses. I've had multiple guests (understandably!) cancel this month, and all salons in UT are on edge because multiple states have closed all salons/spas. that could happen here any time. due to this uncertainty, I, as your friendly neighborhood stylist, am asking for a little bit of support from my guests during the next few weeks. if you have an appt that we cancel/reschedule, whether it's because I have to close or you're staying home and safe, I will ask, if it's in your budget, if you are willing to pay for a portion of your appt upfront that I will put towards your next appt with an additional discount as a thank you for helping me stay afloat during this pandemic.
there are no strings attached here, friends. you're absolutely able to cancel with no cost if it's not in your budget. I understand that not everyone is feeling financially comfortable during this crisis. I sure as hell am not. but doing this, like buying gift cards (which can be purchased on my website 😜), is something that will help small businesses within your community immensely.
stay clean, stay healthy, and stay positive, friends. all we can do is take this one day at a time right now and try to keep our heads on straight. I love you all and am so incredibly grateful for your support. 💕

it's so fun having a partner that supports your creativity and let's you play with their hair. 😜 he has to keep things natural for work so we just popped in a handful of foilyage and babylight foils and toned them to a deep bronde that blends with his natural color so nicely. ☀️
