Beautiful Me Hair Studio
Kristin's mission is to empower women by accentuating their God given beauty.
Through extensive, ongoing education, Kristin stays up to date on the latest cut/color trends and techniques to bring you the looks you want.
I have always loved doing hair, but instead of taking a career in cosmetology, I went into nursing. After 20 years of nursing I began to feel burnt out. Through a lot of prayer I felt God call me into the hair industry. In 2014 I graduated from Tulip City Beauty College and went to work at a salon in Grandville, Michigan. After 5 years in Grandville, the opportunity arose for me to open up my own salon in Holland. December 13, 2019 Beautiful Me Hair Studio was established.
Three months after opening, the salon was shut down due to Covid-19. In June, we were allowed to reopen and business was crazy. September 2020 I was blindsided with a breast cancer diagnosis. My cancer treatment consisted of chemo, a double mastectomy, and radiation. Business went from 90 mph to a screeching halt. I didn’t understand why God had me on this roller coaster, but I continued to have faith that God would use this diagnosis for good.
During my chemo treatments I started educating myself with anything I could find on the wig industry. I could feel that God was going to use this experience to bring wigs into my salon so I could help other cancer clients.
After endless amounts of research I discovered how shady and unethical the human hair industry is and, I thought there has to be a better way.
Following God’s leading, I purchased wig making courses and taught myself how to construct a wig. The next hurdle was sourcing my own hair and getting hair from a ponytail onto a wig cap. After countless hours, I came up with my own method of wefting hair.
This has resulted in 3 different wig designs and customization to a client’s head. My mission is to provide ethical wigs with the capability of using people’s own hair, and overall helping women feel beautiful with dignity and confidence during their hair loss journey.

Hello, I’m Kristin VandenBrink, the owner of Beautiful Me Hair Studio.
✨I have always loved doing hair for as long as I can remember. I didn’t truly understand at the time just how much opening this salon would transform my life.
I have been in the cosmetology industry for a little over a decade, and have loved every minute of it. My purpose of this salon is to make everybody that walks through the door, feel beautiful.
In 2020 I was given unexpected news that would forever change my life. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through that has lead me to the next step for my salon.
I have now incorporated the wig industry into my salon and, I’ve been working on making wigs ethically for women with hair loss by using donor hair or their own.
🦋This has all been an incredible experience and I am so excited to see where God leads the future of Beautiful Me Hair Studio.

Walking In God’s Strength. What does that mean? Whatever your trials are that you are going through with your hair loss journey, I encourage you to rely on God‘s strength to pull you through. I could not have made it through my cancer journey without God’s strength. There were so many days that I pleaded and said “God I can’t do this anymore.” I would ask him to lift me up and give me the strength. The strength I needed for that next minute, hour, day. Whatever your trial is, you don’t have to do this alone. Wearing a wig during my hair loss journey, and even now, gives me strength and confidence. There was a transformation that took place. When I would look in the mirror and see my bald head, I would see a cancer patient. I would put my wig on and look in the mirror, and see me, Kristin. It made me feel like myself. It made me feel healthy. It gave me strength. I love that God is using WIGS to show us how much He loves us. Wants to care for us and give us strength. He is walking with us on this journey and carrying us through the storms. God can turn ashes into beauty, pain into purpose, messy lives into order. Just believe, ask, and trust.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. Learn more here! https://www.beautifulmehairstudio.com/wigstory

You have just been diagnosed and feel your world spinning out of control. Anxiety, nervous, helpless, ugly, angry, nauseous and out of body. I remember these feelings all too well when my diagnosis came September 14, 2020.
Losing my hair was one of the hardest parts of my cancer journey. I felt vulnerable, sick, unconfident, until I found a wig that looked real. My love for wigs started at that moment. I felt confident, beautiful, secure, and most importantly, I felt like me! Cancer + Chemo had taken so much from me and I was not going to let it take my dignity too.
Wearing the wig made me feel stronger - healthier somehow. It allowed me not to be defined by my cancer.
🦋I know God has placed me on this cancer journey so I can help other women feel good too.

✨Thinking about donating your hair to help women with hair loss?
It’s such a kind and meaningful way to support someone going through a tough time. 🩵
After endless amounts of research I discovered how shady and unethical the human hair industry is. All over Asia and the Middle East hair is being used as currency to supply extensions and wigs for people in the United States. A lot of this hair is sourced through unethical labor involving women and children or linked to criminal activities. There has to be a better way.
I chose to personally source human hair donations so I can be certain where it comes from. This is important for both me and my clients who rely on wigs.
I have incorporated the wig industry into my salon and I’ve been working on making wigs ethically for women with hair loss by using donor hair or their own.
🦋This has all been an incredible experience and I am so excited to see where God leads the future of Beautiful Me Hair Studio.
