🥺💔 Seriously disappointed. It’s unfortunate that Hollister Police Department had to shut down the trunk‐or‐treat event in downtown Hollister the one put on by Only The Honorable Tattoos & Body Piercings. This was a family friendly occasion, meant to bring the kids together, decorate trunks, share candy, enjoy music and fun

It hurts to see something so positive, so innocent, get shut down. Our children deserve safe celebrations, not cancellations. Parents, kids, local businesses ,everyone was ready to show up and bring the good vibes. Why stop that?

To Only The Honorable, thank you for all the time and effort you put into making this happen. You guys are all in for this town and its families. We appreciate you.

So to my friends and neighbors: let’s stand together. Let’s support the local businesses who do the work. Let’s remind our children that yes the town can come together, decorate trunks, hand out candy, laugh and feel safe. And let’s ask our officials to do their part too.

📣 If you’re upset, share this post. If you’ve got questions, voice them. If you were ready to go and didn’t make it because of the shutdown I see you. Let’s make something better happen. Because our kids deserve it.

‼️ ( Quick note on the permit questions ) According to a comment from Only The Honorable, they’ve hosted this event for five years and never needed a permit before. It’s always been a free, community-based event done out of love for the kids. But this year, the city wanted to start charging fees — not just for the event itself, but for every single car that participated.

Sure, permits exist for “special events” — we get it: insurance, safety, blah blah. But kids collecting candy from local families parked in regular spots shouldn’t need a permit. Overregulation like this kills community spirit. 💔🎃

And just to be clear there was no disorderly conduct, no blocking of streets or sidewalks. Families were simply handing out candy from their trunks in normal parking spots. This was safe, family friendly fun, not a disruption of any kind.
