Resting posture before and after.

My favorite client is one that follows through. How did this treatment work?

Visit 1: Assessment for shoulder and wrist, manual therapy for soft tissue and joint mobility and review/perform of initial home program
Visit 2: manual therapy and progression, program 2
Visit 3: assess knee, develop and perform program
Visit 4: review/make corrections to upper and lower body program to incorporate into gym routine. Review and adjust current gym program for efficiency.

These visits were spread out every 2-4 weeks. Full recovery with minimal visits is the goal. Posture wasn’t a concern but I think a noticeable benefit to fixing the shoulder dysfunction :)

Still doing this thing called mobility Wednesdays at 7!

Mobility class guarantees:
1. You’ll learn something new about your body’s needs
2. You’ll feel a muscle or stretch in a way you hadn’t before
3. You’ll learn a new mobility drill for that ache or pain
4. You’ll leave feeling ready to climb/moving better

Why massaging out that “knot” around your trap and shoulder blade comes back. Most times it’s referred facet pain from the neck.

How to address:
Changing movement patterns through the cervical spine and strengthening in those patterns will reduce referred pain to the shoulder blade region.

This can mean:
- addressing tightness (lavator/ lats)
- strengthening periscap muscles
- training deep cervical neck endurance
- training mobility in neutral positions

This years chapter in my wellness journey: Introducing mobility

Last year I took this picture and was in SHOCK at how limited I was. As a PT I felt embarrassed and surprised I never noticed or realized how uncomfortable I felt. I had so much neural tension in my neck and spine I couldn’t let my head hang 😬

This realization fueled my decision to start developing mobility programming from my PT and personal training knowledge. I loved the idea of sharing this with the community and give them access to PT knowledge for wellness vs reactively for injuries.

Despite what you typically see on social media from fitness influences to self proclaimed specialists we are all working on different aspects of our wellness journey in one way or another. I’ll never master anything but I’ll happily share my journey. I’ve always promised myself I’ll be well rounded enough to be able to try anything fitness related.

As a movement specialist I can help you analyze your form and improve. Better form means efficiency, risk reduction and improved performance:)

Ideally these two lines would be parallel in each portion of your squat

Analyzing your squat from the lateral view:

Compare these two angles…

1. Trunk angle: Center of hip and center of shoulder
2. Shin angle: Center of knee to center of ankle

How to:
✔️Camera at hip height
✔️ Feet aligned
✔️ 5 second pauses at varying parts of the squat, analyze each:
-50%, 75%, 90% squat

My example shows that at the bottom of my squat the lines become slightly less parallel.

Hawaii outranks any place in the US for easy of access to trails and the ocean. Countless trails within a short drive from town, a walk or bike to the beach for amazing dives and surf action. Being able to enjoy it for as long as possible has always been a motivator to prioritize my physical well-being. I mean why pay for the cost of paradise if you can’t physically enjoy it ;)
