*This is a long post* My intention of sharing this picture is not to bash anyone. It's to educate and share the difference in what is being advertised as volume lashes and what volume lashes should look like.
There seems to be a huge misconception of what volume lashes are and what they're supposed to look like.
Now, volume lashes are multiple, lighter eyelash extensions (EE), that are handmade and fanned out, that are placed on a meticulously isolated single natural lash (NL). Depending on the weight of the EE, and the length and thickness of the NL, your lash artist will determine what length and how many EE's should be used on you, that will not compromise the integrity of your natural lashes.
The bottom picture was shared with me by a client of mine that said "I used to have lashes like this and they HURT!" I wanted to find a way to educate clients that the bottom picture is NOT what volume lashes are supposed to be like (and they're not supposed to hurt). They used far too many EE's, which will cause the lashes to thin out and possibly break the NL. The EE's are not fanned out like they're supposed to be. I will follow this post with what fans should look like.

Volume lashes that are done like the bottom picture will cause damage in the long run or even possibly right away. Please don't let your lashes be treated this way. Find a reputable, properly trained Lash Artist. I can't repeat this enough.... you really do get what you pay for. These are your eyes these are your lashes... they're worth the quality, not the savings. .

I had a client come in that had previous lashes from another salon and couldn’t bear to have them anymore and took them off a couple weeks prior to coming to me for a classic set. After having a consultation with her, I told her with as much lash loss that she was experiencing from her previous set that I was going to recommend a natural volume set, using 2-3 extensions per fan to create a fuller look to hide some of the sparser areas as well as to not overweigh her lashes.
This is what we were able to get her with the sparse areas and not to create a heavy look where she did have more natural lashes.

I agree with Frankie Widdows Eyelash Excellence, not enough of these types of lash sets are posted. These aren’t the full, fluffy sets that attract most of our followers and clients but they are our clients. Women who are older and don’t have a lot of lashes to work with, thin, or missing patches. This particular client was using strip lashes every day for, I don’t even know how many years and her lashes have taken the brunt of it. I’m not even sure what her lashes will look like after not being pulled on every day from the strip lashes but I’m hoping they’ll start growing back without any long term damage. I had to use some of the shortest and lightest lashes I had, .03 lashes.
This may not be the set draws everyone in but they are real clients? Who want lashes and it will always be a work in progress, learning to improve my work every day. Always wanted to try lashes but weren’t sure?!? Now is your chance, I don’t always have specials, so I hope you take advantage.
Always choose your lash artists carefully. Ask for their experience and education. Make sure they’re not overloading your lashes by giving you something that you think you want, but is going to weigh your lashes down, possibly breaking them or thinning your natural lashes out. Possibly even making them fall out.
We all want full lashes, but at what cost? Please ladies, make sure your lash artist does what only is safe for your natural lashes.
I have over 8 years experience in lashes and 6 years in volume lashes.
Ask questions, lots of questions.
