Good progress on site today! Our crew cleared and grubbed the area, pulled shrubs, cut back overgrown grass, and cut down overgrown trees to prep the site for the next phase. All spoils were raked up and loaded into a 20 yard dumpster, keeping the site clean and organized as work moves forward. π

Every great project starts with solid prep work. Our team mobilized to Ala Moana Beach Park to secure the site with biosocks, barricades, parking closures, and full BMP protocols β making sure we protect the environment and keep everyone safe before equipment even arrives. ποΈ

Storm drain collar replacement, start to finish. Our crew demoed the old RCP collar, hauled out concrete and asphalt spoils, then reset the shoring and steel plates to get the roadway reopened safely by 2:30pm.
Solid work, done right. That's Hawaii Works.

Out with the old. π§
Today we pulled the existing RCP out of the collar and waterline path β a major milestone on this repair. After lane closure, we stripped back the steel plates, cut the welds, pulled the shoring, and continued demolishing the old collar. Once the pipe was out, we loaded and transferred the concrete spoils to stockpile and got everything reset before reopening the road by 2:30PM.
Progress on underground work isn't always visible from the surface β but it matters.

Demolition day. π¨
Opened up the roadway, pulled back the shoring, and got eyes on the existing RCP collar β then took it down. From cutting welds and clearing CLSM to excavating around the pipe and demoing the collar, every step was intentional. Cleaned up the spoils, transferred to stockpile, reset the shoring and steel plates, and had the road back open by 3PM.
Even with morning showers, the work moved.

Concrete doesn't wait for perfect weather β but we do work smarter around it. βοΈ
Today we poured 5 yards of CLSM (flowable fill) delivered by Hawaiian Cement, replacing the burrito wrap method at the RCP collar. From lane closure to roadway reopening by noon, the crew moved fast β cutting welds, pulling steel plates, prepping heights, and getting that pour in before the rain rolled through.
Short day, but the work got done right.

No burritos were harmed in the making of this project. π―
Wrapping up the 3B burrito wrap removal on-site β pulling back the erosion control wrap, cleaning up the segment, and getting everything prepped for what's next. Every detail matters when we're out here protecting Oahu's land and waterways.
