Hi everyone! I’d love to introduce myself—I’m Yessica Roque, owner of Salon Roque. With over 15 years of experience as a hairstylist, specializing in hair extensions and hair color, I’m now expanding my expertise into scalp health and working towards becoming a certified trichologist!

About four years ago, I started noticing changes in my long-time clients—specifically, thinning at the scalp. My curiosity led me down a path of research, and I discovered that many factors, including post-COVID effects, could contribute to hair loss. While I’m not a scientist, my observations and deep dive into scalp health made me realize how important it is to offer real solutions for hair and scalp concerns.

That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce The Scalp Spa at Salon Roque! My goal is to provide not only a relaxing and rejuvenating experience but also effective treatments and guidance for those struggling with scalp issues.

Don’t worry—I’m not stepping away from behind the chair! With the help of my amazing assistants, I’ll continue offering extensions, hair replacement, and hair color services while also diving into this exciting new journey.

15 years ago, in June, I completed my cosmetology hours. Just a few weeks before giving birth to my daughter. 15 years ago I passed my exam.Here’s to 15 years behind the chair 🤍🥂 Some might know how I got into doing hair. To summarize, I wasn’t planning on doing hair for this long, doing hair wasn’t really my plan. I once had a boss tell me “Yessie, do you not realize that a lot of people can’t call their job a hobby.” she said this after I told her I wanted to go back to school so I could get a “real” job. 🤦‍♀️ yes, I said that. But once my mentality changed from “ I just do hair” to “this is my career and let me invest into this” my career changed. I have had the most amazing experiences and have had the opportunity to meet very talented hairdressers. I never thought I would travel to the other side of the world because of me “just doing hair”.I firmly believe that God has always put me where’s he’s needed me and many years later I can see His why.So, long story short. If you have an interest in becoming a hairdresser. Keep in mind It’s not “just doing hair”. You truly do become a therapist, an advisor, a chemist, an artist, personal designer, and most importantly you have the ability to change how one views themselves, that’s the most rewarding part of “just doing hair”. And for some who are maybe getting burnt out. Just know that it’s not you. Only you know how much you can take. learn to set boundaries and stick to them. Take days for you, always prioritize yourself and your health. This is coming from a perfectionist, over-thinker, and workaholic. 🫶🏼A huge thank you to all my clients that have been with me since the beginning and to those that have just started coming to see me too. I’m so thankful that y’all keep me busy and motivated to want to learn more and be more. I appreciate all the laughing sessions, crying sessions, ranting sessions, the coffee, the food, and your time.
