❤️Let's chat about skin lifting (also known as
"grazing") ❤️something that can happen during waxing and is often misunderstood.

The red areas shown in the pics are what we call a skin lift. This can sometimes look scary and get mistaken for a burn.

A skin lift happens when the very top layer of the skin lifts away with the wax. This occurs instantly when the wax is removed.

What it looks like:
• A shiny or pink/raw patch
• Can be slightly moist or weepy
• Usually very clearly in the shape of the wax strip
• Appears almost straight away after waxing (not always... butttt most of the time

Why it can happen:
Your skin might be a little extra sensitive due to things like:
• Retinol / tretinoin
• Exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA etc.)
• Active skincare
• Medications (Accutane, antibiotics, steroids, blood thinners)
• Hormonal changes (menstrual cycle or menopause)
• Recent exfoliation or skin treatments
• Sun exposure / sunburn / sunbeds
• Smoking
• Skin conditions (eczema, rosacea
• Naturally thin or dehydrated skin

You might feel a little warmth/stingy or sensitivity for a few hours atter.
Aftercare (super important):
Keep the area clean and product-free
→ pure aloe vera is your bestie here and cold compress or Aquaphor ointment I recommend for my clients.

Skin usually heals beautifully within a few days, as it lightly flakes and regenerates.
