💆♀️ “If it hurts, it must be working… right?”
Not necessarily! 👀
A therapeutic massage can sometimes involve working on areas that are tight or tender, but more pressure doesn’t automatically mean a better massage.
Your muscles have protective responses. If the pressure is too much, your body can actually tense up and fight against the work instead of relaxing into it.
The goal isn’t to see how much discomfort you can tolerate. 😅
The goal is to find the right amount of pressure and technique to help your muscles release, move better, and function better.
So if you’ve ever thought, “I need someone to really dig into it until I can’t stand it,” remember:
Pain isn’t the goal. Progress is. ❤️
At Stillpoint, your massage is tailored to what your body needs—not how much pressure you think you should be able to handle.

LOW BACK PAIN & SCIATICA — WHAT CAN MASSAGE DO?
If you deal with low back pain or sciatic discomfort, you may already know how much it can affect everyday life. Sitting, standing, walking, sleeping—even getting comfortable can become a challenge.
Massage therapy may help by addressing some of the muscular tension and restrictions that can contribute to discomfort.
✨ Massage may help:
• Relax tight muscles in the low back, hips and glutes
• Improve mobility and flexibility
• Increase circulation to surrounding tissues
• Reduce muscular tension and protective guarding
• Promote relaxation and help your body move more comfortably
One important thing to remember: sciatica can have many different causes, and massage isn’t a cure for every cause of nerve pain. A good therapeutic massage should be tailored to the individual and what their body is actually experiencing.
Sometimes the goal isn’t simply to make the pain disappear for an hour. It’s to help your body move a little easier, feel a little less restricted, and function a little better.
If low back pain has been making you feel like you’re constantly working around your body instead of moving with it, therapeutic massage may be worth exploring.
Call today and take the first step toward a better you. Your body will thank you! 💙

🌿 Stillpoint Thought of the Day
If your body could talk to you right now… what would it ask for?
💆♀️ A massage?
🛌 A good night’s sleep?
🧘♀️ A little less stress?
🚶♀️ More movement?
☕ Or maybe just… “PLEASE STOP IGNORING ME!” 😂
Sometimes those little aches, tight shoulders, headaches, or tired muscles are our body’s way of asking for some attention.
So let’s check in…
Where are you holding the most tension today? 👇
Tell me in the comments — neck, shoulders, back, hips, legs, or somewhere else?
Your body works hard for you. It deserves a little care, too. 💙

If stretching, heating pads, pain relievers, and “sleeping it off” were going to fix it…
…you probably wouldn’t still be complaining about it. 😂
Just saying. 👀
Maybe your body isn’t asking for another home remedy.
Maybe it’s asking for a massage. 💆♀️

Your pain may not be coming from where you feel it. 👀
Did you know that sometimes the place that hurts isn’t actually where the problem is?
This is called referred pain — when irritation or tension in one area of the body is felt somewhere else.
For example, tension around the neck and upper back can sometimes contribute to pain felt in the shoulder, arm, or even head. Tight muscles around the hips can sometimes contribute to discomfort farther down the leg.
And with chronic pain, the body can get really good at creating patterns that aren’t always obvious. That’s one reason I don’t believe in simply chasing the spot that hurts. Sometimes we need to look at the whole picture. ❤️
So let’s talk about it…
👇 Where does YOUR pain live?
Neck? Shoulders? Low back? Hips? Legs? Head? Somewhere else?
Drop the area that gives you the most trouble in the comments. You might be surprised to learn that the source could be somewhere you weren’t expecting.
This isn’t about diagnosing the cause of your pain — just understanding that the body is connected in some pretty fascinating ways.
