That’s a lot of history, a lot of hot water, and a whole lot of Buckstaff.

We’re proud of every bit of it. Here’s to the tradition, the people, and the memories that make the Buckstaff so special.

Hot Springs, February 1901. 🗺️

Before Google Maps, GPS or even street signs as we know them today, there were maps like this.

Take a look at Hot Springs as it looked 125 years ago. Bathhouse Row, Central Avenue, the mountain and even the old hotels and businesses are all laid out in beautiful detail.

So much has changed since 1901, but it’s pretty amazing to see how much of the heart of Hot Springs is still recognizable.

What a cool look back in time. 💙

The very beginning of the Buckstaff. 💧

This beautiful handwritten page is from the first minutes of the Buckstaff Bath House Company, recorded in 1911, as plans for our bathhouse were taking shape.

Hot Springs was booming, and the men whose names appear here were among the prominent businessmen helping shape the city’s growing bathhouse and tourism industry.

More than a century later, their names are still part of the Buckstaff story.

Some things really do stand the test of time.

This old postcard shows the Buckstaff Bath House sometime around 1915, just a few years after the building opened its doors on Bathhouse Row.

Look closely. The building is still here. The columns are still here. That front entrance is still here. And the Buckstaff name is still on the building.

What you can't see in the postcard is the part of the story we're proudest of: the Buckstaff has remained under its original ownership, with the Buckstaff family shareholders, since the beginning.

George and Milo Buckstaff founded the Buckstaff Bath House Company in 1911. The building opened in 1912, and for more than 114 years, generations of people have walked through those doors for a traditional Hot Springs bath.

We’re pretty excited about this one. 💙

The Fall 2026 issue of National Parks magazine takes readers to Hot Springs National Park to explore the history, science and enduring appeal of the thermal waters that have drawn people here for centuries.

And yes, the author spent some time at the Buckstaff. 😊

From the traditional bathing experience to the 143-degree spring water, the story captures something we sometimes forget because we’re lucky enough to be around it every day: there really isn’t another place quite like Hot Springs.

We’re honored to be part of this beautiful story about the waters, the park and the traditions that continue today.
