For Katani, the glam was all about refinement. Warm, dimensional skin with a natural satin finish, softly sculpted cheeks, a diffused neutral eye, and a glossy n**e lip polished enough to carry through every photograph, but still soft enough to feel like her.

PART 3: SETTING
Oily skin does not automatically mean more powder.
Setting is about identifying where oil actually disrupts your makeup and controlling those areas without taking away the finish you intentionally created everywhere else.
For me, that means a finely milled powder with actual oil-controlling ability through areas prone to excess sebum, shine breakthrough or separation.

Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder
Finely milled with strong setting ability. I like it when I need a smooth, controlled finish while still keeping the complexion refined.
Dermablend Loose Setting Powder
A dependable option when longevity is the priority. It helps set complexion products and reinforce areas where I need the makeup to stay intact for extended wear.
RCMA No-Color Powder
A straightforward setting option that allows me to take down excess shine and set the complexion without adding additional color.
But the product is only part of it. Placement matters.
If my outer cheek is beautifully hydrated, my blush is sitting exactly where I want it and oil isn’t disrupting that area, I don’t need to powder it simply because the skin is oily.
Powder is a tool for control. It doesn’t have to become the entire finish.
Control where needed. Skin where possible.

PART 2: PRODUCT SELECTION
Oily skin changes how formulas wear. It does not mean every product in your routine needs to be matte.
For the soft, skin-like finish I’m after, I choose products based on the job I need each one to do.
Your products should work together to create the finish. They shouldn’t all do the same thing.

FOUNDATION
NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation
Radiant, skin-like coverage with longevity. One of my choices when I want the foundation itself to contribute to that soft-radiant finish.
Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation
Buildable coverage with a natural, skin-like finish. It gives me flexibility to perfect where necessary without making the complexion feel heavy.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
My higher-control option. Long-wearing with a more controlled finish when I need additional longevity. The foundation itself doesn’t always have to be radiant for the finished complexion to look radiant.
CONCEALER
For oily skin, I tend to reach for concealers that are long-wearing, less emollient and/or more self-setting in the areas where I need additional control.
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer
Concentrated coverage means I can correct and perfect with less product while maintaining a refined finish.
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer
Long-wearing coverage with a more controlled finish, especially useful where I don’t want excess emollience contributing to movement.
Natasha Denona HY-Glam Concealer
Flexible coverage with a smooth, refined finish. A good option when I want coverage and wear without losing the skin-like quality of the complexion.
The takeaway isn’t that you need these exact products.
It’s that product selection is a system.
Foundation can establish your finish. Concealer can bring strategic control. Prep can manage excess oil. Setting can reinforce only where necessary.
You don’t have to make everything matte just because you’re oily.
Master coverage where needed. Skin where possible.

A warm, bronzed soft glam with luminous skin, softly sculpted cheeks, a diffused neutral-brown eye, wispy lashes, and a defined n**e ombré lip. The finish is glowy, dimensional, and polished while still very skin-like.

Warm gold done right never really goes out of style.
A couple years later and I’d still choose this look.
Rich golden lids.
Warm sculpting through the cheeks.
Skin that looks radiant instead of heavy.
One of my favorite things about working on deeper complexions is how beautifully warmth can be layered throughout the face without overwhelming the skin.
Still soft.
Still polished.
Still summer-ready.
And honestly?
This is exactly why I love timeless makeup.
When the placement is right, the color story makes sense, and the skin is allowed to look like skin, a look can feel just as beautiful a year later as it did the day it was created.
