Our Story

I have been obsessed with hair styling, make up and beauty since I was a little girl. Initially self taught, I learned how to do my own weaves, braids, color and other styles in middle and high school. My mother would buy me hair magazines, and I would copy styles from many celebrities. I mimicked cornrow designs of Alicia Keys, did my own extensions long and blonde like Beyonce, and cut my hair short like Halle Berry.

My career in the beauty industry began in front of the camera when I started modeling at 17. As a model for over 10 years, I learned hands on from top hair and make up professionals. I would come to photo and video shoot sets with wigs and hair pieces I made myself. I would do my own make up and the make artist thought I had gone to the MAC counter before arriving! Mind you, this was before the days of YouTube tutorials and Instagram. Back then if you had not gone to beauty school, you figured it out yourself, and that's what I did.

When I moved to Los Angeles over 8 years ago, I decided to take my natural abilities and love for all things beauty to the next level by enrolling in cosmetology school. I am a proud graduate of the Academy of Beauty in Culver City, CA. I have worked for highly rated salons in Manhattan Beach and Los Angeles. From the master stylists there, I learned to find what I love the most and become the best at it. Somewhat of a perfectionist at heart and a stickler for details, I have made hair extensions and keratin treatments (Brazilian Blowouts) my main areas of expertise. Other stylists and salons offer these services along with many other services, oftentimes barely getting the opportunity to perform them and therefore having minimal knowledge. I have specialized in hair extensions for over 10 years and keratin treatments for over 5 years. I have seen the trends come and go and have moved with the times, learning new techniques, trying new products, and staying current with continued education. I also do styling, braids, and cuts. I am comfortable working with any and all hair types and pride myself on satisfying each and every client, personalizing their experience with me to meet their specific hair needs. I have now brought my skills to Orange County and opened Crushed Velvet Beauty with these principles in mind. I hope to meet you soon to help you meet your hair and beauty goals.
